Not bothered about multiple Favourites lists but would like to add my voice to those calling for at least the ability to re-order channels into some kind of useful/logical order instead of the random FreeView jumble that changes whenever they move a channel.. It's extraordinary that you can't do this with YouView yet, because as has been pointed out it's been a standard feature on PVRs for years.
Hi I am not a trialist I am a user and it seems silly that I cannot have the HD channels as my first channels I spent a lot of money so I could have HD TV and I would like those channels to be first on my list, I am happy for there channel numbers to stay 101 102 103 etc. I don't need them re numbering which would cause update issues and that is not what most people are asking for, I would just like to move them to the top. I would also really like to move shopping channels to the bottom as I do not use them but my wife occasionally does so it's no use hiding them. As for other wishes, what would be really cool is if I could get the normal channel EPG and the pay for broadband bases channel EPG supplied by my IP as one EPG rather than two separate EPG as it takes forever to start up the paid for channels and you miss the end of one program or the start of another waiting for the switch to happen. My last wish is that I can record or time slip the paid for channels as this would put the box on an even foot hols as the SKY HD + boxes

Additional channels from BT and TalkTalk are expected to be available via the standard EPG later this year subject to a software update. Once this happens you'l also be able to record these IPTV channels just like the standard broadcast ones.
Personally I'm not fussed about "Gay Rabbit" or any of the other text "TV" channels and would like to see the back of them totally to free up the bandwidth but if I can get rid of them on the EPG it would be a start

Just bought a YV box yesterday and am still getting used to it! My main point was about the duff filler channels like Rabbit and Gems that seem to clog up the available bandwidth. Once we've updated to the latest firmware i can get rid them from our EPG .. Yay!
Its silly that I cant move my hd channels to the top of the list
hi.. we subscribe to the kids channels package, but find it a bit of pain to watch them as they're not in the channel list! it takes several key presses and menus to navigate through to get to them.. i would love to see this sorted out. thanks.
Just got my Youview box today and shocked that it doesn't have the ability to allow manual channel ordering. I like to have them all grouped instead of being all over the show
I agree with the main comment by Keth, but my main concern is to have the option to delete the unwanted channels.
When setting to record a series it records from the +1-2 channels, even if some channels have been hidden, sometimes leaving 2-3 recordings of the same program. This is a waste of time and space.
Have had the problem where the option to record every episode, is not there when setting to record a series.
Something got confused somewhere and the only way to resolve this was to delete all the entries in the SCHEDULE list, and reboot with the front panel button 8 second rule.
When the device rebooted the schedule list repopulated itself, and the record every episode option reappeared when pressing to record on an episode in a series.
The best solution, at the moment, is to hide the unwanted channels from the EPG, via the Guide. I've hidden all channels that require the use of an expensive telephone number to access further services, and I don't just mean the over 18 services. Who wants to record a shopping channel. Although having them on the 7 day backward EPG may be a bit of fun. "Oh! look, see what bargains we missed last week from the price dropper channel". LOL.
I'd also like to rearrange the EPG so that the HD channels are at the start of the guide. I'd also like to win the lottery one day and see my team reach the European Championship finals.
I don't know what other people are like but I tend only to watch about a dozen channels at the most (and some of them, not very often). After hiding the channels I do not want to see on the EPG, it's not too much hassle remembering the numbers of the others so although I agree the order of them is a bit haphazard and not what I would choose, it's not really a huge problem finding the channels I want to watch.

YouView have no control over the numbers assigned to the channels. That doesn't mean they can't allow users to change the order of them in the EPG. Why should they have to be in numerical order?
On my other (non-HD) PVR, I have arranged the channels into an order that suits me (i.e. one with the channels I watch most frequently at the top, and in an order that is logical, not an arbitrary order determined by their channel numbers).
Btw, the link you mentioned is only accessible to subscribers. I wasn't about to spend £19 just to find out what it said.

Your other PVR wasn't developed by the same broadcasters who spend a lot of money advertising where viewers can find their content.

juwlz,
I forget that sometimes links are available to subscribers, which I'm not. I found the page by typing in DMOL in google and the fifth article from the top was the Broadcastnow link above.Click on that, in google, and you can read the whole article. There are ways and means to get around some of these imposed restrictions on content. There are a whole host of articles to be found on the channel numbering fiasco / system (delete as necessary) on the interweb thingy.
Anyway DMOL (DTT Multiplex Operators Ltd) decide the channel numbering on the EPG. I would be great to re-order our own EPG, but then it would be great ...
i have to agree with the above comment, i would also like to see a "favourites" list, or a least the facility to group the most used channels at the head of a the list. I also completely agree that the inclusion of all the adult channels so obvious in the list, is bordering on the obscene, especially where children have access to the remote and channel hop. the facility to hide channels is one of the most basic requirements, and not beyond the wit of your engineers surely, after all sky have been doing it for years.

The facility to hide channels is there now. Sky only introduced this after Sky+ had been available for several years.

Fantastic! So where do I find the facility to hide channels ? I can see itv n the on demand section, but not on the general channel view

have read so many of these comments. The box is silly and like most other TVs Boxes etc etc there should be a method to reorder channels. The current order id ridiculous. All the channels I watch all mixed up with the dross. Childrens mixed up with adyult. Please add an update so we can move channels to the order that we like.

See this thread

on the issue of adding the extra channels to the EPG.

I don't know if it's caused by the broadcaster or the software on the box.
(not sure what this has to do with a topic on Channel List Management though)
But on YouView Channel Five is a nightmare for recording.

1. Option to swap '1' (bbc1 sd) with '101' Bbc 1 HD) - its a bit aqward & time consuming to check the epg from channels 1-101.
2. You are able to create 'favourite' lists of channels which can be turned on / off.
the channel ordering (on the EPG) on DTT is something that Youview have no control over. This is entirely down to DMOL
