Pink screen when in HDMI

Hi all new to this site.
I live in Hull and we have our own telephone company called Kingston Communications and they have recently started to provide YouView.

I signed up with them and yesterday they came to fit my you view box. All went ok but when they switched over to the HD on my TV all i get is a pink screen, you can bring up the guide but no picture. All is perfect when using the scart socket.

The engineer was puzzled by it and couldn't sort it so left it with me to sort out, he did try another box but this was still the same.
My TV is a Bush LCD40FHDA8 and has 3 HDMI ports which i have tried all with 3 different HDMI cables but still get the same pink screen.

I have an Xbox hooked up to the TV and the HD works fine so i dont think it can be the TV.
This is so confusing i was wondering if anyone has had the same problem.

Many thanks for any info.

I had a similar problem with a Humax freeview + when connected to my Loewe TV but all I had was a green screen. Spoke both to Humax and Loewe their answer was that the connection using HDMI caused the problem, the Humax sends a signal via the High Definition Multimedia Inferface (HDMI) to the TV. i.e. they "talk to each other" Neither could offer a solution, Humax said it was the TV, Loeve said it was the decoder.
I found a solution, I cannot remember which way round it is but try switching the TV on first then the Humax or vice versa. It worked for me.
I am having a problem now with another Loewe TV and the Youview box and this is since the sotfware download on Dec 4th. I get the message on HD channels "you cannot watch this as HDMI cannot be enabled" error code YVM607.
I have a BT engineer scheduled for next Friday.

    Hi Russ
I will give this a try later and also try a reset to see if this solves anything.

I get a green screen when I switch from Youview to Humax Freesat.
I have to flick to another channel on Freesat to sort it.

Yes it is frustrating, I think it is just a "Humax" problem as I have also a Panasonic bluray freesat recorder,a Sagem French/German HD decoder and a Topfield HD satellite recorder, none of which exhibits this problem. My Humax Freesat recorder caused this problem also now the Humax Youview.
It is as if the TV doesn't understand the signal being sent to it by the Humax devices.
It's early day's,few people have Youview yet and possibly fewer subscribe to this forum!
Could you try the box on another make of TV? the box doesn't have to be connected to the internet to work.

I think my green screen problem started when I swapped over the HDMI switches.

Got Youview and Xbox on one switch and Freesat and DVD on another switch.

I get it at about every 3rd or 4th switch-on ... Pink screen, no audio. Easily fixed by just toggling into standby and back on again, but it's a niggle that shouldn't happen and it's like the Humax just doesn't initialise it's HDMI interface properly out of standby.

    @Graham

Have you got SCART and HDMI plugged in on the YV box? If so, it might be worth pulling the SCART out and trying again, as the box may be failing to arbitrate between the two demands.

Tried the switch on by using the standby button but still no fix.

After a long battle over the phone with Argos i managed to get a replacement TV but this time its a LG and everything works fine in HD so the problem was with th Bush TV after all.

Good for you, let's hope that's an end to the "pink screen issue" and look forward to the next problem ??? Are you impressed with the quality of H.D. pictures? Good news is that there are about 10 more channels to come in the next year or so.

Graham, just because changing the TV resolves the problem does not mean the problem is the TV. It can still be the Humax box which was the problem.

Humax have always had a problem with their HDMI connections, they have only just introduced CEC on this unit for the first time! Sorry that this reply isn't much help, but try switching the TV on first before the unit, or try different HDMI connections.

    @Technogran

This unit doesn't have CEC, in any meaningful sense, either. It claims it, but it doesn't work properly.

im getting a similar issue with my youview box. works fine until i turn on my bluray player and then the screen goes a green colour and blocky. the only solution ive found is by changing the colour setting on the bluray player which seems to correct the problem but next time i turn on the bluray player regardless of which colour setting its on it goes green again. the setting i change is from RGB and YCBCR

How are the YV and BR boxes connected to the TV? Sounds like the kind of problem you may get if connecting them to the same HDMI input on the TV using a splitter the wrong way round.

Just had same with youview humax machine & panasonic Smart TV, completely pink screen no audio or remote function. Switched TV off and back on then back to normal with you view.

    Hi
I have a humax box and it has been ok for over a year but for the first time tonight the screen went pink and i lost sound.
Sometimes the screen will just go black also?
Have tried turning off and on and all configurations of doing that but no good. I first thought it my tv but i am sure its not as it works fine with all other devices.
Do i need a new box? or is there a way to rectify this at all?
    Cheers

    Leigh

Whats the make and model of your TV, Leigh?

Make sure the HDMI cable is pushed well home at each end - they do not make the most positive of connections, and they can work loose.

Failing that, try it with the HDMI cable of something which is still working - maybe the cable has gone bad.
