An update will be made available for all customers on Talk Talk with a Huawei YouView box over the next week. This will be a phased roll-out managed by Talk Talk so some customers will get it sooner than others. This release includes:

New Functionality: Channel Filters in the YouView Guide enables easy grouping of similar channels

Improved Feature: New Look Timeshift buffer on Recording Playback and Paused TV.

Fixes to known issues: Large number of fixes including Mono Audio on Recording now restored to Stereo and Recording Playback freezes when using Fast Forward/Rewind)

How to check whether you have received the update:

Go to ‘Settings> System Information’

Select ‘Software Versions’ then press ‘OK’

You can check if you have the latest version by pressing the YouView button on your remote control, navigate to Settings > System Information > Software Versions. For those boxes that have already received the update you will see the following:

Manufacturer Software: 12.29.05.

You can also perform a Manual Update:
Go to YouView Settings> Device Management> Software Update

If your box displays different software versions, please be patient, this is a phased roll out so your box may not have received the update yet.

Should you have problems with or questions about the update, please contact TalkTalk on 0870 4441820, online via TalkTalk Members Forum or at http://help2.talktalk.co.uk/.

Will this fix the fast forward and rewind getting stuck on live TV and recordings and also when it skips a few seconds forward after pressing play on live TV and recordings after being paused?

This is good and bad news.

At last the infamous mono playback is fixed - that was reported as resolved by TalkTalk on March 19th!
The fixes that Humax have had over the last three months are included.

But many people were expecting the integration of the boost channels into the EPG and the ability to record them.
    Alas no mention of this.

No Surprise there then. Prob get the channels in the EPG in December and Record in May 2014. Why does it take so long for TalkTalk to update always ages after BT

It really looks as though their software engineering resources are extremely inadequate compared with YouView's.

Well I have to say I am pleasantly surprised that this upgrade has actually been released (thus far to some) on the date that gwatuk had got from YV/TT.
I haven't thus far received the update - but as indicated above its a phased release - so happy to wait a few days longer.

However, what I'd really like to see is for YV and/or TT be more pro-active with its release schedule. Its what I've been banging on about for the last few months.
If they released a schedule with a documented release content then this should reduce the amount of noise and frustration from their user base. It should not need their most active forum users to drag the timings out of them for example.

gwatuk is also correct in his comment above about the lack of adequate engineering/development resource for the TT/Huawei kit. With the growing popularity for the YV/TT option, the noises of discontent are only going to grow if the Huawei upgrade releases come so far behind those for the benchmark Humax hardware.

So basically YV/TT/Huawei, pull your finger out and address this, otherwise the complaints will only grow.

(I'll be posting something similar of the TT forum - before the YV mods tell me they can only comment on YV requirements ;) )

    Yes Simon - we concur!
Yesterday evening I sent an email to TalkTalk's CEO's office and Ms Dido Harding herself making just this point. It ended:

'...I do think for many people having a known target date (whether or not it is officially confirmed) has been very helpful. It has stopped the irritation of just having "no news".

I really would suggest that TalkTalk reviews it's policy regarding this. You've demonstrated that a target date can be hit on this occasion, so I think your customers would be quite understanding if you missed one by a few days in the future (especially if there was information about why it had been delayed).
Keeping us better informed can only be a good thing.'

Plans do have to change if issues come up. There is no good reason to release something that is found to be broken during final testing.
What is unacceptable however is when release dates slip and no-one is told, and no indication is given as to why, what the contingency is and when the new release date is.
At the moment all people tend to get is 'it;ll be released when its ready' and' watch this space'.
Not good practice for software delivery, or for any business process/project for that matter.
Put it this way - I'd be crucified if I treated my business customers like this.

I'm with TalkTalk Rob, so it probably won't be that, I'm sure it'll update fine eventually.

They may be waiting until Thursday now.
