What use is the FULL icon?

I am currently using my new YouView box with an old CRT TV via a scart

cable.  The purchase of a new HD TV is still under negotiation with

SWMBO.  I was intrigued to see the FULL icon lit, and had a look at
https://community.youview.com/youview/topics/front_panel_indicators
but that still doesn't really tell me what it's for.

I
had a look at the system management, and managed to change the output

from 1080p to 720, but the FULL icon is still lit.  Can someone please

explain what it is trying to tell me when, with a scart cable, I can't

use the HD output?  And why it thinks I need to know?

It is enticing you by telling you what it could supply over an HDMI cable, if only you had something at the other end of one that you could plug it into.

Tell SWMBO that even the YouView box itself is issuing a standing reproach to her for not enthusiastically embracing the prospect of investing in something that can do the box proper justice.

Or when she's watching Mr Selfridge, remind her that blouses don't shimmer in real life, and won't on 101 BBC HD.
