In the sort of sloppy journalism that leaves anyone who comes to this article not already knowing that CAT means Competition Appeal Tribunal none the wiser.... :-(

Sorry Roy, I should have said that where this BT thread is concerned, as on this thread I often forget it is a general multi platform forum. My mistake.

Am I right in the assumption that ordering BT TV (Starter) gives you the non PVR Youview ? Is it still compatible with all features for instance red button interactive etc ?
When you have an active account could I transfer BT Sport to my retail Youview PVR ? Would BT Player work on my retail box also ?
Is this a recent change ? When I googled it most results seemed to suggest you couldn't watch BT Sport on your retail bought Youview box. Mine is the 1000 with no BT branding.
You can watch BT Sport on a retail box so long as you also have a BT supplied box. Then you can just switch services between the two. I have this set up and it saves having to pay the £5 multiroom (Extra Box) charge.

I don't know if it will. The interactive functionality will be in HD so a older box may be too slow. The function may just be for the current G4 box and the new G5 UHD box. The UHD was announced as launching 2nd August and the UHD trials are getting to there conclusion!
First generation boxes are perfectly capable of using HD streams using H.264/AVC encoding. Sept maybe for the UHD box release, even though the Community Shield looms...

Do the playback of recordings from Internet channels behave different from recordings off the terrestial channels ? I'm meaning if selecting to FF or rewind.

Don't you know?

Sorry ? What's this got to do with the BT Sport app suffering from high demand ? Just thought it worth a mention considering only last week you told us what a poor service Now TV was at peak Demand for some users.
Indeed. It was a server capacity issue apparently. BT said it was a 'minority' of users affected, but have refused to say how many. Its to be hoped they don't make that mistake again.
What poor HD PQ (picture quality)? I watched the game and it was superb!

To be fair visionman, I watched the ultra channel and the pq was excellent but swapping back to the hd channel and the picture was poor for a BT HD channel. Not sure why but will ask about and see if I can find anything.
Yes, absolutely. Multicast via the internet is a new form of broadcast technology rechiz. They aren't streamed.
Once there was only Analog TV, then came Freeview. Then digital Freeview. Then came satellite and cable TV. Now there is TV via internet distribution. They are all forms of broadcasting.

Just to clarify, it was the Garudian's journalism I was calling sloppy, not yours :-)

And you'll be able to record them.

Let's hope BT sort the capacity issues out for it's online and app customers , seems Now TV isn't the only service to fall over at peak Demand ;-)
