is there a YouView equivalent of Sky Go and Virgin TV Anywhere,
maybe BT & TalkTalk have plans of a separate or uniform interface
but what about the Freeview end
with a free app like ToView or TVPlayer
if done properly could link into the subscriptions area to BT & TalkTalk

any windows 10 apps for any of the companies mentioned
so far the best is the BT Sport Windows 10 App could do with some final tweaking to be amazing.
Sky seem to be largely ignoring windows 10
but there is not any real attempt by any of the big players BBC ITV Ch4 OR Ch5 to build compatibility
i would have thought they would do an app that could be used across ios, Android & Windows 10 universally grabbing the surface market and raising profile to Windows Phones

BT have something called the BTTV app, this shows most of the extra channels BT shows and quite a lot of catch up content. It doesn't do any freeview channels though.

TalkTalk have something similar, TV2Go, but with fairly limited content, no Sky Sports for example. I imagine the main brake on this is rights from the content owners. Freeview content is generally well catered for by existing apps, although they are not under one roof so to speak which I guess is what you're driving at?

All the PSB 'on-the-go' apps are already well catered for on current mobile devices, so what would be the point?

Didn't I already say that, albeit in a less confrontational manner?

I didn't say that that way. The only person who is confrontational on here at the moment is you with me.

OK, try the first part of the question and leave others to judge the rest. What is the point of your comment?

Could this new update and cloud based back end systems lead to a sky go type app from YouView

Thing is, what would it do that you can't already do?

Unlike Sky channels, Freeview channels are readily available online, either from the broadcasters themselves, or from aggregating services like FilmOn or TVPlayer.

Further, the YouView App already gives you access to the main Players, direct from the App, with the same seamless backward EPG as the YouView box.

And it is easy to move to the live services in these Players, if you so desire, though I would like this to be seamless also.

Perhaps you were thinking of Sky Go Extra, though, where you can download programmes to watch later? The BBC and All4 apps already allow this.

It's worth bearing in mind that Sky contracts for all of the programmes on all of its channels, so it can negotiate for exactly how these services can be provided, online, offline, or from recordings. Whereas YouView has no control over how Freeview can be provided, beyond the general Freeview provisos.

But the sine qua non is that you could watch your recorded programmes round the house, Sky Q style, or even on your tablet or smartphone when out and about - which I don't think anybody provides as a service yet, except Slingbox.

    However, take heart from:-
