Oh thank goodness. I'm extremely pleased to hear MyTV is a priority. I don't understand how it slipped through the net in the first place? I'm hoping it can be rolled out ASAP, quicker updates was one of your selling points in the new system.

There is an excellent post here on the forums comparing MyTV to iPlayer and explaining why the iPlayer interface is so much better. Other than the obvious problems with truncated titles and poor handling of series record it shows how the eyes take a confusing ride across the screen. There are other good tips in that post too, you should definitely read it. Does anyone have the link to post here? I can't find it now.

Phil, Why should we have to wait for something we already had a month ago, the fact that features missing that were there before this update, shows that is was not ready for release. If you really are listening to us, give us back the original software and when you have fully fixed and sorted out this new one then roll it out.

As for the key themes you mentioned, we don't want tiles of any description, we want nice easy to read lists, surely it can't be that hard to give the option to have lists or tiles.

Sorry I didn't know you knew the opinion and thoughts of every single YouView user.

I for one am very happy with the new interface and tiles...

SOME may prefer lists I think is the key here (and possibly not even the majority by a long way of the few million YouView users).

I'd just like to recommend that if you have a forward thinking attitude, are willing to try new things and are prepared to give up your own time to provide feature testing activities and feedback, becoming a trialist can be a a very rewarding activity.
Be warned though, the majority of people on the trials forum like the tiles, with a tweak or two here or there, of course. :)
I'm now happy with the disagree icon, because its gone.

Well looking at the posts over the last few weeks I'd say the majority want lists and not tiles. I like most of the people who have recently joined were perfectly happy with our box just the way it was, so had no complaints and so no reason to join this group,

I wouldn't say my eye sight was bad, but even I have trouble trying to find what I want to watch in the cluttered mess of tiles on the screen, so I really feel for anyone with bad eye sight, in fact I think the tiles are in breach of the Disabled Discrimination Act as someone with bad eye sight who could read the lists will now be struggling with trying to read the tiles

But boy do I wish i'd have known about this group earlier, that way i'd have known the update was coming and I would have disconnected my box from the internet to stop it updating.

Martin, that is exactly the point. Most people that are happy don't look for a forum, therefore only the unhappy people (genralism I know) come here. Therefore you do not get anything like a balanced view just by reading a forum.

If you were happy with the tiles then you wouldn't have come here, so if we wanted to be stupid we could say that everybody not here complaining actually likes the tiles, and out of a few million users that would make quite a few likes. I know that isn't a fair thing to say but it is only the opposite extreme of what people say about the complaints vs likes on here.

I appreciate everybody has different likes/dislikes and should be encouraged to say so and choice is the key but choice being the operative word...

I think it was you that posted the message about iPlayer, but I can't be sure. Can you post a link to it here so Phil can easily find it please?

How many of the people on the trials forum are over 65 with failing eye sight, I bet most of them are young and like all these new gadgets and gismoes. So naturally they would like the tiles, but it seams to me that not one moments of thought has gone in to the older generation who use the box as well.

If you dump the tiles I will dump youview into the nearest skip. I had issues with my view lists I have vision issues and sometimes struggled to see the text in the list view of youview classic. I'm managing to find my recordings a lot better and don't have to ask my wife to find a specific recording now. If you go back to the terrible list view only I mean it I will dump youview. A option in the settings would be good to specify if you want list view or tiles then you please everyone. Please keep the tiles. My TV is my favorite feature of next gen.

So you tell me... how useful are these heads and how many programs can you quickly identify by the tiles?

I have removed the text because you say you can't see it, but even if it was there it wouldn't help you much anyway because it's all truncated.

Those that like the 'tiles' will certainly not have come complaining about them; ergo the complaints are only from the (possibly a minority) that do not like them.  I'm sitting on the fence myself, and waiting to see if I come to like them more.

I know exactly who is in my shows and 1 can identify them by the picture and 2 most of mine are not cut off on the titles. I only watch good shows not junk so stop trolling my posts I am entitled to my opinion simple as that. And all films I watch have well known actors in. I found everything I was looking for straight away simple as that. My TV is excellent. Stop trolling my posts.

Ah! choice, not Hobsons choice, how revolutionary, if the marketing people get hold of this idea, thus pleasing all of the customers/potential customers would be their nirvana!

It's interesting that you keep YELLING that you're entitled to your opinion and yet when somebody else has a different one than yours you shout at them, insult them, accuse them of trolling and threaten to report them.

So in the interests of balance how many can you tell with the text on....image

because I can tell all of them, easily and I especially like seeing 12 not just 9 on one page...but each to their own.

Im not sure that these 'Tiles' in 'My TV' are a blessing or curse.  The good thing (I think) is that my 3 year old daughter can play her recordings of Peppa Pig etc without my intervention by moving to the the correct tile with Peppa's picture on it, pressing Ok and then OK again or move along and OK.  She seems to grasped this quite well without any instructions from mum or me.  However, my just turned 3 year old daughter is not the bill payer.  Mum finds the interface a a little tricky to use but she doesn't use it often now that the little one has control,   Dad however likes the concept but at the moment still prefers the old layout because of the way 'My TV' has been executed.  The new layout could be better but still retaining the tiles concept if some tweeks were made and perhaps adding the old text and small TV screen as another option in the settings.  This would end the issues of many of the people in the countless threads on this forum.  It's easy for me to say though, I don't have to write the code!
I think I could live with the new layout if it had been executed properly, it looks like Youview are listening, but i don't see how this layout got the go-ahead in it's current state.  Hopefully time and some effort from the youview guys will get this sorted.

date, goes top left across to the right then down each row...same as you read a book.

Alphabetical might be nice to have as an option in an update ;-)

Hmm, that didn't look too bad...I thought they were sorted alphabetically. Also, I can read those titles quite easily. Thanks for this, it's a bit of a revelation. Maybe I'll unblock the update!
