I can't edit my posting above, so I will give the corrected version here:-

No, but it might have left me :-(

Its late on a Sunday night but send me the details of being a trialist and then we can talk some more.  But a basic question would be why launch something half finished?

Ah, thanks - I wasn't aware that it used to behave that way. You're right - being a BT box 'user' (not necessarily a BT 'customer') has meant that my initial experience of NextGen was only quite recent.

This is also down to my TalkTalk DN360T steadfastly refusing to find any NextGen update to this day. I call it my BLOB (the 'B*ggers Left One Behind'). ;-)

However, I still find it hard to understand how such early behaviour could make anyone suggest (even mistakenly) that the release of 27.50 enables you to just press enter to fall back onto the episode you've just watched. Quite bizarre. But hey-ho.

    So Roy...
Imagine your name is jimb and you have a penchant for adding 2 and 2 together and making at least 4. What deduction might you be coming to based on Roy's comments above.

    Hi Lynda,

Thanks for taking the time to feed back. Here's a few things that might help:

    Menu
The current menu layout is quite similar to the Original YouView menu. When you press the YouView / Y button on your remote you still have Guide / Players & Apps / MyTV / Settings in the same order as you did before. You can press OK on the titles to go to those areas or you can use some of the shortcuts to your content underneath.

    Search
The search area is now a spyglass icon on the far left of the menu. Or you could use the Search Button on your remote.

    Recordings
In MyTV, the layout there is in date order that is arranged from left to right as opposed to top to bottom. We've received a lot of customer feedback for MyTV and our Communications and Support Manager, Phil has responded to this in another thread. Feel free to give it a read.

    Features
We have also confirmed some features that are missing will be reintroduced again soon. See our the Important Information section in our release notes. Extensive user testing has been carried out in development and it is our absolute priority that the interface is easy to use. That's why we appreciate your feedback and will pass it on to our Product Team.

I hope this helps you familiarise yourself with the new layout and re-assures you that we do test and listen to our users. If you need any more assistance with other areas in the new layout please let us know and hopefully we can lend a hand.

Hi Sanj, I have just seen your comments in dismay only today (Saturday 20th May 2017) ! You may have a lot of knowledge in programming, but this really is a muddle. You may disagree. Yes, I appreciate updating improving, revamping an interface to keep up to date with the others: Freeview, Freesat Sky, etc, but be honest, it really is not fair to consumers not to leave them in a mess. I appreciate new software may have bugs, things to iron out, but why trash a good setup overnight & leave consumers with this until you guys get round to sorting it all out? I commented earlier today (Saturday 20th May 2017) regarding EPG guide: its dreadful. Please kindly read my comments earlier today. I am very annoyed indeed.

The Youview interface overall may look ok to you guys, but from the feedback you have many complaints across the UK. Why on earth couldn't you build this a long time back & fully test first before launching nextgen? So many silly errors. Why not learn from the original build? It is very clear that this was not the case? Instead you have changing operating systems & released a stripped down version almost from start to be fixed at some later date. This is certainly a learning curve for you + also more importantly . . .  the consumer!

The darkened banner/screen reduced to only seeing middle of screen clearly is still very annoying when I want to fast forward rewind. Yes you can overcome this by pressing info & patiently wait 5 secs or more, but you have to keep doing this. If you take a look at Humax Freetime box (if you have one to test) this is now working perfectly, it still has a icon banner at bottom of screen showing location on recording, but you can see WHOLE screen without screen darkened out. I look forward to the major software release that fixes these problems & complaints. John
Can't wait for the day when Youview get rid of the dreaded darkened banner when using fast forward/rewind recordings.

Missing little tv pic top right of epg. only thing we really missing is the actual start/finish times for programme being watched at top of epg. Obviously it gives you 1/2hr progression but not the actual start/finish time of prog you watching, so you have to click info for that which is just something extra to do, liked it on epg screen automatically. Thanks

    Hi John L

As you will see from the change in his honorific, Sanj has now been promoted to higher things, and so you need to aim your fulminations at Sarah now.
