Hi Jason, as Daniel said this Edit Channel feature is currently unavailable but will be making it's debut again soon.

When you updated to Next Gen, we kept all your current settings. So if any channels were hidden, they will remain hidden. You can restore your hidden channels in the TV Channels option in Settings. However as it stands, if your restore them, you won't be able to hide them again until we bring the Edit Channels feature back.

We do have the ability to hide all adult channels and categories in the Restrict Rated Programmes option in Settings if needed.

    Hope that helps for now.

That's great. Thanks for letting us know.
As for the update in general. I like it.

3 months later and this basic feature is still not available. Clearly Youview don't care about their customers. Next generation is a huge step backwards

NextGen is about getting YouView off the B roads so it can use the motorways.

A certain amount of backtracking is needed to find the junction :-)

This thread was three months ago, still absolutely no sign of the return of a hide channels/favourites option. We are so close to going back to Sky - the "upgrade" has brought nothing but grief, hard to navigate and series link continuously failing. Poor poor stuff, I've only stuck with Youview as so far I haven't been bothered to apply for  planning permission for a dish. This may well be the very incentive that I need.

We need updates! Driving us mad! I only want about 25 channels out of 200+.

What is particularly frustrating, is that apart from a vague statement, we were unaware of this undesirable feature. I found more & more 'new' unwanted channels were being automatically added to my 'guide'. And when I did a re-tune, every dam channel appeared & I am stuck with wading through piles of dross to get to the few channels actually want to watch. It feels like this was done on purpose to force us to look at shopping channels. In future please do not release updates until they have all the features of what you are replacing. The new features might be important to you, but they are not to users if added at the expense of existing functionality.

Completely agree. It's just so basic now - couldn't care less about it looking flash, if it doesn't function then it's no use to man nor beast.

Hello might I suggest listing down your favourite channel numbers on a bit of paper and just tapping the numbers into the remote. I appreciate it's not a substitute for been able to hide channels but unfortunately I don't see what else can be done for the time being.

    No, it's this one.
    A Panasonic DMR-HWT150EB. It's a freeview box.
It also allows me to delete or hide the **** channels.

I think I get it I'm guessing you got annoyed with a youview box which was upgraded to next generation software and decided to purchase a replacement. Have I got this correct?

If I have this correct you have my thanks because a lot of people have posted they are going to replace there box but I personally have not seen a person post what box they purchased or if they indeed went though with the swap.

Just out of curiosity what did you do with your youview box if you don't mind me asking?

Cheers. Obviously you where not happy with youview and I appreciate that you have posted about your alternative box. I generally mean this but I really hope you are happy with the box you have now and I hope it provides you with many years of enjoyment. Once again thank you for posting.

It is now over 4 months since Sanj told us: "Edit Channel feature is currently unavailable but will be making it's debut again soon".
A software update appears to have been released today, which i have just installed. And surprise surprise, still no sign of being able to edit the channels list.
This is a prime example of the contempt Humax seems to have for its customers.
Perhaps a Humax spokes person could provide a firm time scale as to when the feature will be restored?
I know I will never purchase another Humax product.

Humax are not responsible for the software on youview boxes. Humax have provided the hardware. Any updates come from youview.

After my BTTV runs out this this year I am seriously thinking of going back to my Humax rec just so I can get rid of all the **** channels. They are doing another update now and I can't believe they are still not adding an option to delete rubbish channels.

Or maybe a Maintenance Mode 4 reset, which appears to be their cure all.

To be exact, it potentially cures YouView boxes that have working hardware, no disc corruption, and a problem that is not inherent in the software release the box is running.

And all without losing your recordings.

So not a cure-all, but an effective cure-lots.

Of course, if you would rather keep your problem to moan about instead.......

If I do a factory reset will it give me the old interface back.  I can then get rid if the unwanted channels and then re-update to the new interface.
    Would this work.

Nope. Unfortunately not. If you do the reset next gen will still be on your equipment. Youview have publicly announced that discover, hide channels and action panel will return in the next generation software at some point however a date has not been given at present.

If we do the next retune advised from 2 Aug will we lose the ability to hide channels?

There haven't been any advice to force a retune of the youview box on the 2nd August has there?  All the current announced changes can be handled by the youview box automatically.

This 'feature' only exacerbates the situation. Most of the new channels are shopping and other undesirable rubbish, which are added to my box without my consent and I cannot delete them!

    YouView have your 'deemed consent'.

The state of your actual consent, whether given or withheld, is not relevant here :-(
