hi my BT T4000  updated last night to the new software or firmware and i think i shot my self in the foot as i bought this BT T4000 of a selling site second hand and im not with BT im with TalkTalk so the new software ending in 47 i think went on and its basically now a glorified talktalk box as i have set my netgear router to stop internet between 12am and 6am but for some on known reason it still updated so just a word of warning becarefull if you do not want your BT T4000 to update if your with a different provider not BT as it will put your broadband companies update on it i hope this has made sense and please except my apologies if in the wrong place or not allowed

What happens you get a skin based on your broadband line. As you plugged the box into a talk talk line you got talk talks skin. If you plug this box into a BT line you will get the BT skin if you plug it into any other line you will get a retail skin displayed it has nothing at all to do with the next gen software. Youview has always worked this way but its more prominent now. In youview classic if you pressed the blue youview button you would have had a talk talk logo on the bar. You would also have the talk talk IP channels at the end of the guide and the talk talk player on players and apps even though you won't be able to use them without talk talk TV. Since next gen its more prominent but its always operated in this way past or present and if you change broadband provider in future you would notice it change depending on what broadband provider you chosen.

thank you Daniel i really appreciate you input and understand what your saying but the point i was trying to say aswell is i did not want it to update thats why i set the netgear router to turn of between 12am and 6am to stop the update but for some on known reason it still updated i have checked the router settings and it has stayed as i set it to when to turn of and when to turn on im just baffled why the update still went on unless it did it at 6am or after

Youview classic also has a update check on startup that happens weekly and you are required to be vigilant and press cancel on. Perhaps you missed this?

It will try, weekly, to update at switchon if it can't update overnight. You have to be vigilant to spot this happening each week, and say No to the update request.

I do not like these changes!!
My recordings and schedule is no longer clearly listed, you can no longer see at a glance what you have on there.  It's all a mess and confusing,  I hate it.
Can we not get back to how it was yesterday before these horrible changes?
Also, I have 'talktalktv' in the top left corner when I go into 'my tv' .. why is that?
I have a 2nd youview box downstairs which isnt connected to the internet and there has been no changes to that one.

The changes are part of a mass rollout and it don't mean you will get the update on each of your boxes at the same time however youview have a policy of no box left behind so your other box will get it eventually. There is no going back its here to stay. There is a my TV feedback thread where youview has requested feedback on the my TV recording page. Its listed at the bottom of the forum next to the rules of the forum feel free to pop in and leave feedback if you wish. Best you can hope is its improved in future more to your liking but next gen is not going no where.

Thanks for getting back to me, much appreciated.
I bought the 2nd youview box for my elderly mum and dad, there is no way they will get the hang of this new format.
It's the recordings and schedule that I hate the most, I really do hope this will improve, or at least give us the option as to how we wish to view our listings, so we can switch to an easier simpler screen if we wish to do so.

If you genuinely don't want the update on your second box you can unplug the internet but bear in mind while you will be able to view freeview and record and watch recordings player and apps won't work as they need the internet.

Just be patient guys, there are loads of updates due in the near future according to several sources including PlusNet. Blanking the updates really is shooting yourself in the foot. You have the basic framework so now get the upgrades.

I have a 2nd youview box downstairs which isn't connected to the internet and there have been no changes to that one
