watching a recording in progress from the start

Prior to the update, we would frequently set a program to record if we knew we wouldn't be able to catch it from the start of the live broadcast. Then, we might watch the recording from the beginning whilst it was still recording the live feed, and fast-forward the boring bits (e.g. F1 coverage when Eddie Jordan is talking - only joking).
This ability seems to have vanished from the NG interface, or at least we can't find how to do it. The program does not move from "scheduled" into the "recordings" until it has finished, and we are not allowed to watch anything still in the scheduled list (for obvious time-travel reasons). Also, from the guide, the only option is to watch the live broadcast from "now".

How on earth can we get this functionality back?

It was a major part of our everyday usage of this box.
This, and the farce of the series recording listing order (which is adequately covered elsewhere) leaves us with the GREAT desire to go back to the old firmware.

My recordings are instantly available in the MyTV recorded programmes page as soon as the recording starts, so I don't know why yours don't appear until after the recording has finished.

I find that if I want to watch a program that's recording go to guide select the program that's recording
and press OK and it starts playing fro beginning of that program.

Thanks for the replies. This prompted me to go to my telly, and take some photos as a step-by-step illustration of my problem - the only thing is that I cannot reproduce this (at the moment).
We are greatly relieved that it is currently working as desired, but perplexed why it wasn't behaving this way Fri night (when we wanted to watch Only Connect on delay).
The box had only just done the NG update, so maybe had a glitch with the "first pass" of a series-recorded program. Or maybe our lack of familiarity with the new interface, or maybe ...

There are loads of [expletive] moments with this new interface, this is just one. For example, I cannot find a list of series recordings - which is separate to what is coming up for scheduled recording.
For example, we might have a seasonal series recording (e.g. the wife's "Strictly"), but if there are no programs pending, is this series invisible, or is it deleted, or does it have a "no programs coming up" in the Schedule page ?

It is invisible, exactly as it was in CurrentGen, but remains in stealth dormancy for a number of weeks (14, IIRC), so that if the series comes back, still identified by its series Crid (the item in the metastream that the box uses to identify programmes and series), it will appear in Scheduled once more.

If the 14 weeks(?) passes without a recurrence though, the scheduled entry is then deleted.

So, this is not an expletive moment with NextGen, though there are plenty of valid ones :-)

Hmm, whilst I am not going to argue with someone who has so many points in this forum, I seem to recall seeing a list of ALL series recordings, and going through them with my better half, deciding if we still needed them (including the aforementioned Strictly, and other seasonal impulse settings). Shame I can't roll back the firmware and check... ;)

The points only confirm my ubiquity, not my expertise :-)

But as I recall, Series recordings and single recordings were always intermingled, in both Recordings and Scheduled.

And while you could certainly see, and Delete, Scheduled Series recordings, you could only do this by picking your way round any upcoming single recordings, and only for Series that still had upcoming episodes.

Perhaps when you did your deleting, there were only Series recordings present?
