I take it (mostly) back. It's amazing how simply the removal of the oversized MyTV  tile and the re-ordering of episodes within a programme have soothed the savage SWMBO. This is a small change that makes a huge difference. Well done to all concerned.

    addendum whinge: Can we please:
    1) get rid of the "new" before programme names as it obscures what they are.
    2) get a 'sort by name or date' functionality
    3) Get a 'jump to a section of a programme' functionality

    But well done. Youview lives!

All good points.  I agree that the reordering within a series is a very positive step - the old way was confusing and annoying.  And the large tile was annoying too.  This is much better (just received my software update last night).

Additionally, as I said earlier, the delete confirmation dialogue should state exactly which programme I'm about to delete - this would be very helpful and help avoid a potential disaster!

Unfortunately the new tag is down to information the broadcasters have chosen to use. Youview are not responsible for that. If you don't want the new tag on your recordings the only thing possible to do is search for a repeat of the show or look to see if catch up has the show.

Better, but still missing the features that we had before and were coming 'soon'.

Hmm, as someone who's quite a fan of alphabetical ordering I can foresee that being a bit of a problem...

    Well... it's slightly better.....

The un-needed mega tile... is gone "hoorayyyy"

It chops the ends off slightly less recording names in MyTV.

It is still not as easy to use and find recordings as ClassicYV. (as in a list view and returning to the exact recording you just exited/ended),

The lack of written information is not made up for by having vague visual cues (tile pictures), especially when there multiple users recording various shows etc.(a picture of several people stood smiling, does not help if i have no idea what the show is......)

I know some people do like the tiles, but it has a 0% approval rating in our house (partners/children), as did windows 8/8.1, but with the return of an option to list view in windows 10 everyone is happy again.

I'm not impressed at all with the functionality on my T4000, or rather the lack of it, since the move to HTML.

    Irksome 'features'...

    • Main Menu appearing when the unit is switched on - intrusive and pointless
    • carousel of channels/recordings on main menu - pointless
    • Image tiles in the MyTV recordings pages - the old list was much clearer and cleaner
    • main menu still defaults to the Guide button when THERE'S A DEDICATED BUTTON ON THE REMOTE!
    • Search offers continually updated results... in a text carousel? Who in creation came up with THAT? It would be so much easier to display a list or table of results that can be scanned through.
Useful features that are now missing...
    • Hiding channels
    • full title appearng at the top of the guide for truncated titles in the listing
    • mini screen in guide
    • options to watch on catch-up, record or watch recording in the program info panel
    Broken...
    • volume control press-and-hold doesn't work. Now need to press multiple times to adjust it at one percentile per press.
    • stopping playback of a recording now goes back to TV instead of recordings
    Suggested improvements?
    • Either re-instate or give options for removed features
    • Options - actually give us some...
      -turn carousels on/off
      -menu timeout (3s / 5s / 10s etc.)
-tiles or list view in recordings menu
    • Work on what makes the system easier and faster to use, instead of what looks pretty. Pay particular attention to the fact that it is primarily being operated via a remote control and therefore does not need to look like a website optimised for tablets!
    • Streamline the interface to enable features to be accessed with minimal button-presses.
This is not meant to be a comprehensive list; it's just my take on what has made using my YouView box a chore since the leap to HTML.

Adding a colon to Roy's code should fix that e.g 'New:'

But even if youview remove the new tag if its possible to do easy enough surly the broadcast partners would not be happy with youview messing with there data. The broadcasters obviously do it to highlight new programming even though it's annoying.

Thanks to feedback both on here and elsewhere, addressing My TV became the top priority for them, not the 'Soon'. And what an amazing difference its made.
Still, can't please everyone, eh? :)

    Youview is a system that records the repeat of a broadcast when the original 'new' broadcast clashes with other programmes;
and then the broadcaster puts "New:" in front to try and highlight it.
I don't think they've fully understood how timeshifting is used by viewers. If they put the same intelligence to work on an alphabetical sort I could foresee programmes being highlighted by giving names all starting with A; like taxis were in old telephone directories:
    • A1 News from the ITV
    • AAAA Street in Weatherfield
    • Attenborough's Animals

Sounds as if they can't keep a promise. Why remove it in the first place?

The features weren't 'removed' in that sense of the word.

They are just 'not as yet implemented 'in the ground-up rewrite that is NextGen.

That's one way of putting it Roy, but something that was there and is now not there was removed or walked away on their own. lol

Not frowned upon but people are going to have different opinions that's just the nature of a forum. People may blunt and have strong opinions but that's just forums. It would be a boring world if everyone was identical.

Is that really true, Visionman - or just your own 'rule'? I don't see any restriction imposed by Phil of YouView, about who could/could not post, at the top of this forum. Given the very poor reaction from many sufferers of the last version, it's only to be expected that people will look desperately for salvation to the next version. The latest announcement contains some details on the changes, people know what they want fixed from the last version, so why shouldn't they react to that? Why do only the first recipients get to air their views on a blank page?

You need to post in the correct place otherwise you are going to spoil the thread for current 27.50.0 users. You are welcome to post your views as soon as you have got the software and tested it.

If you don't post post in the correct place you could be accused of thread trashing.

By all means read what's been said but if you comment in a thread with a specific software number on it about something else you could find your posts removed or moved to the correct thread by the community management.

It's not fair to ruin a thread for other users.

Is that so then why did the community manager move some off topic posts out of the 27.50.0 thread today then. You need to read the forum rules by the look of things. And everyone knows I can't work because of my ms diagnosis so I am not working in any capacity for youview. I can read however.

The icons are all very pretty, I can live with them but prefer the previous simple listing of recordings. What is totally **** is that with internet channels we can no longer start a recording at a specific point. I have a 5 hour recording of British Superbikes, I know what time a certain race is due in the recording, can I jump forward 3 hours like I used to be able to do, not now I can't, I have the choice of 30X forward or 60 sec jumps requiring a button press for each jump whilst hiding the screen so you don't see any of an earlier race that you want to watch later. Pathetic rubbish, the designer of this should be made to scroll through internet channels bit by bit for the rest of his life.
