Okay, my biggest issue with this update is definitely the recording page.
I have a series recording with 45 episodes in the folder for my two toddlers. When you go into the series folder, you only get 5 episodes displayed and there is no way to jump forward a page at a time. When you go into this folder, you are always placed on the first entry regardless of where you were previously. If you want to jump to the end of the list, you can't even tap left to jump to the end, you can have to tap right individually, in this case 44 times to get to the end. Crazy!
Now, what happens if I have done this and finished watching the episode and decide I want to delete it? When the recording stops and you dismiss the notification, it takes you back outside the series folder. I now need to go back into it and tap right 44 times again to get back to that episode so I can delete it!
I love the YouView box but this latest update is beyond frustrating!

We had pepper pig for lunch the other day. What a change from that clean digital sound - we really enjoyed the crackling :-)

There you go, Grunders. You've been called a troll and arrogant. How dare you disagree with anyone? How dare you stick to your guns against the forum cognoscenti? Just accept that you are wrong, if they say you're wrong, and back off, eh? People will start to think that they can say anything on this forum!

Sorry Visionman. You know the British tendency to root for the underdog. I just thought I'd bring a bit of balance to the 2-on-1 fight. Not that this is the first time I've witnessed such exchanges on this forum recently. Generally with the same combatants piling in....

Hmm... I'd like it noted even the longstanding forum members on here disagree with one another from time to time. And since the launch of NextGen so more often. But neither of us trolls anothers opinion, and nor would we consider doing so to anyone elses, either. As all opinions on here are welcomed, not dismissed.

    A recap:

    Hannibal:
scrolling through numerous episodes of Peppa Pig pressing the back button takes you back to TV then you have to work yourself back to the guide and do the whole thing again!
    redchiz:
do most viewers of Peppa Pig care in which order their episodes come?
(Questions hannibals statement that its a problem)

    Me:
They PERFECTLY well know what episodes they have seen and what they havent.
(Answering redchiz' question with my and hannibal's opinion that it DOES matter)

    redchiz:
Read what I said again. And most parents, including me, have had a three/four year old at some stage. Does it have to be current to comment? But lighten up, eh?
(Relevance?! Didnt like the answer, patronises to inflame the 'debate'.)

    Me:
I did read:  You implied that the young watchers of pepper pig dont care what order they watch.  .... But then, as its only your opinion and you are not a YouView employee I guess WE should ignore your opinion just like you should have ignored others...... But then its not the first time you have been told about doing this.  Is it.*
(I remind him of the original ANSWER to his question that it does matter and if redchiz doesnt like our opinion then he should just ignore us rather than rebuke it.)

    Visionman:
Grunders - your arrogance declares only yours is right the right one. And how dare anyone disagree with you
(He rebukes me for reaffirming my answer to the man and rebuking him for  arguing against/disagreeing with my and Hannibals opinion.)

    Churchwarden:
There you go, Grunders. You've been called a troll and arrogant. How dare you disagree with anyone?
(points out that only redchiz is allowed to disagree with others and not the other way round)

    visionman:
Why no, all opinions are welcome on here. But that does include all opinions.
(forgets he has already chastised me for having an opinion that contradicted redchiz)

    churchwarden:
Not that this is the first time I've witnessed such exchanges on this forum recently. Generally with the same combatants piling in....
(someone else noticing the pattern here.....*the one that I was not allowed to say.)

    Visionman:

But neither of us trolls anothers opinion, and nor would we consider doing so to anyone elses, either. As all opinions on here are welcomed, not dismissed.
(Continues to see this whole episode one sided.  Hopefully this summarized version will help him see the IRONY of his comments.)

As I said before, if you dont like others opinions, then dont challange them - there is no obligation to reply.

    No reply required.

Has anyone experienced this before? Constantly overlaid and shaking cursor in the centre of the screen.

Generally agree with everyone else's criticisms over this ballsed-up update! Namely:

    1. Slow performance
    2. No choice to ignore 'update'
    3. Less informative UI (images instead of text)
    4. Removed functionality; numerous but mostly the progress bar during paused live TV and top-right corner TV in EPG
    5. Considerably more difficult housekeeping, ability to delete recordings after viewing.
The box is a T2100, and I performed the soft reset option 4 before the post above.

I did have a console controller plugged in just for charging which was producing the teardrop, now removed and disappeared thanks!

The performance is definitely worse than current gen though, the animations are very slow, typically made up of only 2 or 3 frames when scrolling between tiles.

I should add crashing/locking up into the mix - I have had to power off at the back of the box twice now, something I never had to do with current gen in over 2 years of ownership.

I do like the new software but there has been a few annoying minor bugs with the software and with BT TV since this 27.50.0 update.
At lest BT have noticed the bug with BT TV since the new software update and have slowly been trying to fixiIt for a small number of the BT TV customers that were affected including me.

This reply was created from a merged topic originally titled New BT TV YouView Format.

We are struggling badly with this new format, particularly the inability to create a List View of recordings. I had occasion to speak via an on-line chat with a member of BT's Customer Support team and mentioned our dislike of the new format. He informed me that many complaints had been received and that a new upgrade to address these issues would be available soon. Can you tell me if there is another upgrade due that will reinstate the List View please?

I've just pressed stop on tonights recording of Southampton Vs Man Utd on SS1 with 7 minutes to go (to the end of the recording). It kicked me out to live TV.
BT YV T2100 on 27.50, watching IP channel SS1 HD 337.

Not seen that error message before but then again I don't subscribe to SS1 or SS2 via BT TV. It seems like there maybe still one or two minor bugs in the 27.50.0 at BTs end that still need to be sorted out.

    Hi all,

Just to confirm that BT have now identified and resolved the issue regarding the IPC6017 errors where people were unable to watch their IP channels or recordings over the last few days.

You can find the post regarding this on their community here.

BT will continue to monitor the situation however if you receive this error message again, please let us know and we can chase this up for you :)

Sarah, has this reared its ugly head again?

Different error numbers this time, but similar problems - ie not allowing to watch BT channels nor BT recordings. IPC6012 & IPC6034.

I wonder if an MM4 is going to fix it, like it appeared to last time.

I must say, I've had this box over 4 years now and I've only had to perform a Maintenance Mode reset 3 or 4 times.

But every one of those times has been since the installation of NextGen. :-(

I will however take this issue up with BT as well, as I have unfinished business with them and this will provide ammunition.

    Hi Visionman,

Can you confirm if you mean that you were watching a recording and pressed stop or that you were recording the match and pressed stop during the recording?

    Hi skiller,

Oh no I'm sorry to hear that you're having a similar issue.

I'll see if this can be looked into to see what's going on. Can you confirm that you're still unable to access your IP channels? Have you tried a MM4?

My biggest bugbears at the moment:

    • New recordings start several seconds late, missing off the very beginning of the programme

    • When using Search (the left-most menu option), light blue text on a dark blue background is difficult to see

    • When displaying programme info for a recording (using the i button) the play/pause/wind controls don't function

    • When fast-forwarding internet channel recordings, I miss being able to jump in discrete chunks of time... I used to be able to whizz quickly through the adverts in a couple of key presses - but now I have to watch carefully for the end of the adverts while fast-forwarding and then, having overshot where the programme recommences,  rewind a little, which requires more effort and takes longer.

Yes Sarah, I was watching & chase-playing a recording. About an hour behind. Then upon pressing stop it kicked me out to live TV.

    Hiya,

I believe this is the intended journey as you have pressed stop which stops you from watching the recording and takes you back to Live TV. The recording will still continue and shouldn't cancel from pressing stop and will be in your Recordings section. When you go into your Recordings section, you will be able to watch the recording again and it should take you back to the point where you clicked 'stop'.

I tried replicating it on the box I have here with another programme, pausing it so I was behind Live TV, then playing it for a couple of mins and pressing stop. I then went into my Recordings and was able to watch what I was watching from the point I pressed stop.

Left bt now, no offer to stay but a lot of passive aggressive emails about losing BT TV. Sorry but this upgrade has cost my custom for what it matters now.

    Thanks for that, Sarah.
Just for test purposes, try recording an IP broadcast for over an hour, then chase playing it to within 10 minutes of its live broadcast, and then press the 15 second flick back button.
You may be surprised, as it will throw you back an hour.

My particular problem seems to have sorted itself out with no need of an MM4 from me, this time.

Having just had the update, I was immediately disappointed for 5 reasons and wish I hadnt had it:

1,  when calling on a recording for playback we can no longer enter the user choice of playback begin time (ie, tap in 10:00 to start playback after 10 minutes in to the program).  Now it seems to be either from the start of the program or wherever you left off watching. Terrible.  This is highly important to be brought back.  Imagine a recording that is 3 hours long (like a film) and you stop at 2 hours.  When you resume the next day you want to start from 1 hour in again to remind you where you had seen up to or want to show a scene to your partner at a specific point you noted.  Now you cant without the ball-ache of laborious rewinding/fastforwarding.

2,  The GUIDE which shows the *popular* programs on show now for quick select is typically showing the SD versions (channel 1, 2, 3, 4 etc).  I never watch SD channels (big screen, fuzzy pictures with SD) so they are pointless and take up space.  Need the choice to remove the feature or tailor it to show only HD versions of the channels.

3,  On the old software, during INFO of a program (eg channel 1)  would show similar to "Available on HD/Watch on HD" where you can effectively go to the HD equivalent channel.  Now it doesnt show this.

4,  The 'background program image', although can be turned off if a distraction, is no substitute for the 'mini preview' window that used to show in the corner whilst browsing the guide.  Now we have completely lost the ability to keep an eye on the current program whilst taking time to review our guide and MyTV options.

5, The program 'splash screen' image of the recorded programs are hiding the full program titles.  Titles used to be seen in full in the old text based system but this flash version concentrate more on distracting image to the detriment of clear visible program title information (where it is longer than, say, 4 words).  Example, it would now show "The Graham Norton S"   instead of "The Graham Norton Show".   Or "New Celebrity Juice:.."  instead of "New Celebrity Juice Xmas Show" (which is a very different show to the normal one).  This is VERY bad. You would need to start to watch the program before being able to determine which it is (or press INFO).  Why should we have to do this?! (A clear sign of style over substance).

I wished I hadnt done the update.  It was a backwards step in favour of using program imagery and removed some key useful features.

I agree totally with Grunders; this update is very retrograde.  I was told about 3 weeks ago in an on-line chat with a member of BT tech. staff that they had received so many complaints that an additional upgrade had been sanctioned.  Is this true and when will it be released please?

Complaining about what, though? There are a number of changes I am sure the majority would like to see.
