How can I navigate through a programme?

For example, say I want to get 2 hours into a 4 hour programme. Previously, a bar came up when you select the programme and you could use the right cursor key to quickly get to the 121st minute.

Now it seems I have to press the skip button 120 times or fast forward at x30 for 4 minutes!

Am I missing something or has this functionality been removed?

No you are not missing anything.

'Removed' is the user perception here, but it is not quite the case.

NextGen is a ground-up rewrite of the YouView software on a more modern software platform, and it is still a work in progress, in which much, but not all, of the functionality of CurrentGen has yet been implemented, and Skip To is one such functionality.

This has forced us back on Fast Forward, where YouView have been told in the past that it does not go fast enough, and it does not even actually go at the claimed speeds. And them not fixing this back then has now come home to roost :-(

Skip To will be back, but there is no published timescale for when.

In the meantime, I suggest you time it by boiling an egg :-)

Thanks Roy for the comprehensive reply

Thankfully, I kept my humax pvr-9150t so will be dusting it off and using that from now on. I can't stand the tile views and navigation issues on this forced 'update '

lol, I'm going to do that too. I have a very old YouView box in the attic that I will start using, and oh of course, I won't connect it to the network either, otherwise, this too will downgrade!

You can very effectively use all the old software functionality whilst still connected to the internet providing your router will allow the blocking of  specfic URLs. See this thread for details:- https://community.youview.com/youview/topics/how-to-prevent-your-box-updating-to-next-generation
