Unless you guys want to enable HDD Recording with YouView enabled on your own accord (would be nice!)
Although YouView could be a socialist company instead and do it for the good of humanity and the betterment of the human race? A leap from Star Trek's book. What you recon?
Edit: Maybe I need to stay off the vino
*Note : Lifetime means the useful life of the device, i.e. the period of time TomTom supports your device with updates, services, content or accessories. A device will have reached the end of its life when none of these are available any more.
What Im getting at is: what is the definition of "life of the TV"? Im sure, somewhere in the contract it will define that.
Anyway thats neither here nor there for many, as after say 5 to 6 years, many would be thinking about replacement by then (if they havent already). TVs do not seem to last as long as they once used to - besides technology changes so fast these days and even if its not broken, you most likely want to upgrade to newer features etc etc.

While I agree with your analysis that what we see of YouView on these Sony TVs is all we will ever see - so that for me, it is a damp squib that has finally fizzled out (sorry, YouView), I would ask for a citation for your assertion that YouView was never going to record on these sets.
And what rights issue could possibly arise if YouView could record, that doesn't arise on the Freeview side, which can record?
The problem with some of these duplicate posts that GetSat creates is that they don't let you delete them.
Even John Lewis flag apps on their smart TVs as not guaranteed to remain there, though. I think that's wrong, and possibly contrary to consumer law.
Certainly for apps advertised on the packaging, and which haven't suffered force majeure and died altogether.
e.g. for any TV that was bought as the current model in mid-2011 and supplied and advertised as having the BBC iPlayer, the manufacturer is obligated to support a later version of the IPlayer until now, mid-2017, if the BBC choose to discontinue the iPlayer version that it was supplied with, or else the consumer is entitled to redress.
Or maybe the BBC should be obligated to support any version of the iPlayer for a six-year life?
on their 2015 TV.
I have a KDL43W809CBU,
I have been told on the Sony Forums to wait for the update,
but impatience within wants me to try.
The Marshmallow update is bland and uninspiring now.
There is no real added visual features
and Nougat is coming
so it's always going to be stability,
which is welcome but boring.
