Although the details say we need to re-pair, the app did not enforce this
However, I did the disconnect in the app, just in case.
Then I tested pairing without turning the YouView box on, which does now seem to work.
However, I now have the following issue:-
But despite the message there, Settings says I am Connected, I can perfectly well access the Guide, and I can watch catchup players, so my box isn't really disconnected from the internet. And all the other Main Menu options work.
And a test Booking I just made has worked fine, so I really am connected from the App as well
Thoughts?
UPDATE: it seems to have been a temporary issue, and has now corrected itself by 17:39, 40 minutes on. It was pretty persistent at first though, surviving several trips to Standby and back.
I was about to see what a soft reset would do, but now it does not seem to need one.

Well, I was hopeful this one would work for me (iOS11, iPhone SE), but it still crashes at the splash screen (..and yes, I tried a fresh install to no avail)
I haven't installed this yet because I am not at home, but is it really going to be a feature of these updates going forward that we will need to re-pair each time? Because that is a bit of a pain to put it mildly.

The 3,000 mile round trip it has a 50/50 chance of involving for me would indeed be a minor inconvenience :-(
Stephen says we are moving from the LAN pairing era to the Cloud pairing era, starting with 17 (or 12, as it was erroneously called).
Installing 17 and not re-pairing would still leave LAN pairing operative. i.e. the re-pairing was only needed to bring in the more capable Cloud pairing.
18 has been released because not everyone could re-pair on 17.
I suspect that if you had re-paired OK on 17, you would not really have needed need to re-pair on 18.
We are going to need to re-pair when the new Android app is released, though, as we will have the same consideration of moving from LAN pairing to Cloud pairing.
But if it comes out when I am 1500 miles away, I can still install it, and continue to use the LAN pairing, until I get home and can upgrade to Cloud pairing.

Thanks Roy, looks like you're right, I did re-pair OK with .17 and have just installed .18 with no need to do so. The update notes are thus somewhat confusing.
As I wrote in the 11.0.17 thread I couldn't connect with this new app.
However, the issue might have been my problem in that the Youview box was connected via 2 un-managed switches, initially an 8 port from my router & then a 5 port at the TV/Youview end.
Taking the 5-port out of the equation has allowed 11.0.18 to connect OK.
I write this here as well as in the 11.0.17 thread in case it helps anyone else.

Both my wife and I found one or two things a little rocky after installing iOS 11.
There is a new ‘Shut Down’ option at the very end of the General Menu, though this just does seem to be an easier way to get to where a long press on the On Button gets you.
I suggest you use this to power cycle your iPad, though, and see if this improves things, and lets you get the YouView app started.

Hi,
We've just deployed a new update which resolves an issue where the app would crash for some users so I'd suggest that you update the app to see if that resolves this issue for you.

Hah, I put an emoji at the front of my message before that link, and it appeared ok just as I posted it, but GetSat appears to have swallowed the whole thing on reloading the thread! Thanks jimb for being my interpreter!

Do we think somebody should tell it? :-)

Let’s look forward to a speedy resolution to this problem, which GetSat were told about some time ago.
