the title really says it all.

are there any YouView DVR’s with FreeSat?
i know there used to be hybrid FreeView and FreeSat recorders and probably still are.

If there are, are they HD or 4K with HDR?
any 2tb options or higher?

No, all terrestrial OTA and/or Internet.

GIYF, if you want to search for any.

If there are, are they HD or 4K with HDR?

The most capable YouView box is the 1TB BT DTR-T4000.

    any 2tb options or higher?

    No.

A 4K HDR ready hybrid YouView/FreeView/FreeSat box with a 2tb HDD obviously with Internet connectivity & Recording, YouView catch-up and FreeView Play & FreeSat Freetime would be a big seller in the Free TV market.
    Covering ALL free TV bases.

cant understand why there isn’t a box such as this already in circulation

Because such technicals would be niche, as the technology your talking about is still in its infancy.
You could try a SkyQ, but even that doesn't do HDR. Only the BBC offers that at the moment.

Is this just what you think, or can you cite any market research to back up your opinion?

Because nobody wants to go bust making one, I guess.

What proportion of the marketplace wants both Freeview and Freesat, but yet is reluctant to shell out on one of each?

And there’s nothing on Freesat you can’t get on Freeview (or at least nothing that makes it into the Radio Times), if you have a decent aerial and can get full Freeview; and if you can’t, and you get a Freesat box because of that, you aren’t going to want Freeview as well anyway.

When you say HDR, which of the three, possibly four, HDR standards do you have in mind, or are you expecting all of them?

How do you propose that the makers not be wrongfooted by HDCP 2.n, when the standards are still settling down?

And perhaps most tellingly, if YouView had stayed a retail-only offering, with only free channels, do you think they would still be in business?

BT and TalkTalk, with their subscription offerings, have by far the greatest complement of the YouView boxes out there - and even retail owners are looking for more and more subscription services to be offered.

I think if anyone did make the box you dream of, the target market would be in low single figures, possibly just you. And you would probably baulk at the figure the box would necessarily have to be priced at, with all that multi-gubbins on board.....

£1000? One hundred sold? Company goes pop.
