    Remember this....
Anybody remember this being announced in 2016:- 'using the cloud would enable YouView to implement new ideas, new features and respond to bugs in days and weeks instead of the months and years it took previously'.

While I am not generally a fan of conspiracy theories, our polite requests that IP subscription branding and players do not appear on our boxes unless we are actually subscribed to them fall on deaf ears at YouView, for reasons whose worthiness escapes me.

And you can certainly conjecture that a feature that can be used to remove all other traces of subscription branding from non-subscription boxes isn’t exactly very likely to bubble to the top of the subscription IPs’ wishlists.

Or indeed, to appear on them at all....

    The quote I have is:-

“Our move to the Cloud gives us the opportunity to make large scale changes, add functionality and enhance features in days or weeks, rather than the months or years it can take for other traditional TV platforms to do the same.”

But perhaps yours comes from a different YouView source?

It is weeks, though, still, that we are waiting for things to come back. Just that it’s nigh-on 90 of them. And it doesn’t make sense that the rollout of any new release is about three times longer than a sprint; but maybe YouView still haven’t mastered diffs.

    and how about this one...
Those of us who have had the failed to record scenario find this unbelievable.

YouView also says that it’ll be able to implement updates more smoothly. It promises to drop in extra features and crush bugs every two weeks or so, claiming that the user won’t be aware of these tweaks thanks to the new cloud infrastructure.

Yes, I wonder why that never happened? Did this third-party reviewer exceed his brief, or did YouView have to back away from the seamless and unannounced updating model, back to the takes-ages formal Updates of old?

But the bit he certainly got right was that, by and large, we are hardly aware of new features and bug fixes appearing on our boxes  :p
