Has anyone else had this / are there any plans to roll out a fix? And perhaps a version that supports the additional apps that other boxes have?
Thx
This is not a universally reported issue, so I don’t think there is necessarily anything in that release causing this.
By definition, everything that happens, happens after one release or another; so only when it is right from the moment you get a release that an issue happens can it be said that the release caused it. And even then, it can be the release process that causes issues, not the actual software in the release,
Also, as you have said, the issue is getting progressively worse; so it all points to something other than the release.
Have you done a soft reboot? While not recording nor about to, touch the blue ring in the centre of the fascia for just over 8 seconds, until the box reboots. This cures a number of ills with these boxes, and doesn’t affect your recordings, which remain perfectly safe.
If that is not effective, an Option 2 or Option 4 Maintenance Mode reset is the next thing to try. This is a bit more drastic, but still preserves your recordings. Make sure you follow the instructions for the T1000, as it’s different for the other boxes.
The absolute last-ditch option is Option 5, but this does wipe all your recordings. However, it can be the only solution when an otherwise working box gets disc or filing system corruption, of which your inability to make recordings may be a symptom.
If still no go, I fear you will have to resign yourself to having an aged, and possibly faulty, box that can no longer cut the mustard, and start thinking about a replacement.
And even if you do get it working again, no, it’s not going to support any of the new apps coming along, anyway; this Mk I box hasn’t got the welly for that.
Are you on subscription with BT? If so, they will send you a newer model of box on request; just ring them up and ask.
But if not, this 2012 box has had its 6-year life, and funding a T2xxx replacement - they can be quite cheap on eBay - beckons.
Welcome to the forum.
It'd be helpful if you could confirm if you've tried any of why Roy has suggested above. We're not aware of any issues regarding failed recordings at the moment so it'd be useful if you've tried any of the above so we can investigate further.
Thanks,
Sarah
