Please feel free to discuss the latest TalkTalk software update version 72.47.119 and 60.47.119 in this thread.
This update includes some new features such as Synopsis in the Guide and Play Next Episode along with some other improvements.

What happens when you try to play one of your saved recordings? Do you get an error message, and if so, what does it say? Please report it here.
But, depending on this, there might be hope for your saved recordings.
With the box on, and while not recording nor about to, touch the On/Standby button on the box for just over 8 seconds, until it soft reboots.
When it comes back, see if your saved recordings will now play.
If not, a more drastic reset, but still preserving your recordings, is Maintenance Mode. Follow the instructions carefully, for your exact box since these differ from other boxes, and try Option 2.
If still no go, repeat, but use Option 4.
Please report back if this fixes things or not, and, if necessary, we can tell you how to proceed from there, depending on what happens above.
Except that on the day it is released to you, a manual update check may pull it in a few hours earlier than the overnight download time when the box automatically checks for it anyway.
