There are a couple of recent posters in this thread (no names, no pack drill) who need reminding of, or possibly introducing to, the rules of conduct here.

So duly referenced; (i) and (ii)

I have tried to get along with it, but find this synopsis in guide thing awful, distracting and useless.
An irritation parallel can be drawn if one of the kids starts bobbing around right in front of the TV, but at least I can move them out of the way.

Is implementing a disable option for it really that hard?
It's now on the list of my most hated things, along with wasps and loft insulation :#

I personally feel there is special place in hell for the designer of the synopsis guide.
Northernman I think that's getting a bit personal on the forum with reference to "hell". I would not wish anyone that comment. I agree with regards the synopsis, it's very irritating & hopefully Youview will add an on/off setting or do something to improve.  John L
My apologies if this has offended you, i was paraphrasing a quote from TV which on a forum about TV boxes seemed apt.  I assumed that as James May used the opening line to describe a gearbox on a BMW in top gear which is show repeatedly on Dave (Christmas Iraq episode) during the day time and OFCOM has never reportedly had an issue with the phrase it would meet the requirements of this forum.  I am duly slapped down by other members (referencing their forum rules) and I sincerely apologise to the designer of the pop up synopsis if I have in anyway hurt there feelings. That said I stand by the sentiment of my post and feel the pop up should be optional or removed.  It is really making me consider stopping using the BT TV service.

Seems these days that people are just waiting to be offended or find something offensive, which is very sad indeed.

We do try to operate to slightly higher standards of behaviour than the overgrown schoolboys of Top Gear  :p

    But no large damage....

And so Merry Xmas to all!

Whilst the new Programme Synopsis in the Guide is a feature most reasonable techie people may well like, I don't, but more importantly its just one more complication arriving on the screen that confuses my 95 year old mother.  Please Pease give us the option to turn this type of feature off for the sake of those who's priority is to retain the ability to master basic navigation without help.
  • Please drop Synopsis in the Guide. Or at the very least provide the option to disable it.

    I have a BT Retail (Humax) DTR-T2110 (variant 84B08530) running software version 31.69.0 / 3.5.132.

However, on the YouView Support Latest Box Version webpage, for my YouView box, the latest version is stated as follows:
    BT Retail DTR- T2110 / 84B08530 31.28.0 / 3.5.74

Should I be concerned about this software version discrepancy?

    Hi there,

Apologies for this, our table was a little out of date. I've now updated this to reflect the most recent software versions for the box.

    Thanks,
    Sarah

So, are there any plans to stop this synopsis in guide from maybe/maybe not hiding some (or all) of the upcoming programme title in the guide?
I'm keen to know before signing up with another TV provider.
    Thanks

    Hi Simon
We have no information to share about this at the moment however if there are any changes, it'll be noted in our software release notes when the release goes out.
    Thanks,
    Sarah

So, here we are in September, and we still have this rubbish 'feature'. Seem like this forum is a waste of time! Who did you switch to Simon ?
