Itv, ch4 and all bbc hd channels lost

Since Friday our youview box has been complaining the antenna is unplugged. It is not. The signal has become so poor we are limited to bbc1 or 2 or internet services. A rescan has simply ditched these other main channels. At first we wondered if it was due to snow - but that has gone now. Maybe engineering work - but there is none declared now. We probably receive from Crystal Palace or the Guildford relay. Youview does not allow manual retuning. So what else can I try?

Unplug the aerial from the YouView box and plug it directly into your TV.

If you see the same problem on the TV, then you must look to a fault with your aerial system.

if the TV is fine, though, come back and let us know.

  • I get pretty much the same combination of channels by plugging the antenna directly into the TV. The signal for ITV, Ch4 and so on is so poor as to be unwatchable.

What type of aerial do you have and where is it? Also, what area of the country are you in, ajturnersurrey?

So the YouView box is innocent  o:)

@Visionman has asked the most pertinent next question; and if your aerial is an outside one, you need to go and inspect it, from as close as you can safely get. Maybe the snow brought it down?

    Hi @ajturnersurrey

Unfortunately it looks like the Digital UK engineering works page hasn't been updated in the last week or so however we can confirm that Crystal Palace has been having engineering works since mid January so this could potentially be the cause of the issues you are experiencing. We can suggest that you try another retune every now and again as it may pick up more channels during this period however we don't have a set date as to when the works will be completed as it's been going on for a few weeks now. You can try contacting Digital UK in case they have more information about the works here: 03456 505050

Once the engineering works are over and if you are still experiencing poor signal strength, we can investigate further.

    Thanks,
    Sarah
