A very useful feature on New Gen. But now its here there hasn't been one comment on it, which I find interesting. Though the one many want is the return of the action panel record option.
I'm now happy with the disagree icon, because its gone.

I didn't even notice, thanks Roy! Time flies, it's nearly been 2 years :o

@Keith There have been a couple of 32 software releases now not added to the consolidated list of updates, has this now become non updatable :( It was a brilliant piece of recording.

    Hi @scott - indeed, I know, unfortunately there is a problem :(
Unfortunately Vanilla seem to have made some sort of system change in late January. It in effect appears to be imposing a shorter character limit on posts and the top post is already beyond that limit. The limit is still quite high so not a problem for the typical persons posts. For these post though, if I try to edit them it will not let them save (unless presumably I cut the length which would defeat the point of them). As a test I cannot even just open the post for editing, remove one character and save it without it failing and telling me it is already about 15000 characters too long (even though it was clearly fine before and is now 1 character shorter still).
Sarah is aware of the issue but I'm not sure if Vanilla intend to do anything about it or provide any explanation and feedback that I could then suggest how I could change the way I maintain it to fit with their limits whilst still keeping it as useful as possible for the reader. I did suggest a kludgy workaround of creating a 3rd empty post at the top of that thread such that I might be able to split the content over 3 posts not 2 now. I would rather avoid that if possible but it would be better than not continuing to maintain this content. This post limit issue, and slow response to deal with it by Vanilla, is the one niche thing were GetSat were originally actually better than Vanilla (I hit a limit there once and they resolved it within a couple of days). That though was back before GetSat were taken over and then pulled up the drawbridge to mere mortals so we could no longer feedback to them directly or help them and their other users (Roy did a particularly sterling job there too).
I had already had to work around the Vanilla post length limit for that one topic opener by splitting it in two when it was first imported from GetSat. At that point I tested the limits and added the note you can see in the top of the second post as to what I think may be happening from a slightly technical perspective. Sadly the limit I mention there appears to have been further lowered.
I've not actually tested the topic edit again recently so it is possible they have fixed it and I have just not been made aware. I'll take another look later (but doubt it will be good news).
@scott, glad to here you have found this topic to be useful :)
