Update on attenuator, I did suffer channel loss again sometime in August/September. I adjusted it to full attenuation and retuned. Some of signal strength on channels are silly low 50-60%..
Its been absolutely fine ever since.

As long as Signal Quality is 100%, you are fine.

A too-strong signal can actually degrade signal quality - think of it as the transmitter **SHOUTING** in your YouView box’s ear.

50-60% signal strength isn't silly low. Youview Support says here that a good signal is considered to be:
    • 50%+ Signal Strength

    • 100% Signal Quality

    Hiya,

Just as a heads up for this one, there's a simulcast removal for TJC (791), Together TV (792) and TBN (794) on the 21st January. Since these are being removed, it's likely that the issue with channels disappearing may reoccur again. This can be resolved with a retune.

We are currently trialling a fix for this with Humax and is being tested at the moment. If this proves successful at preventing this issue from reoccurring we'd be looking at getting it into a software release as soon as possible.

Apologies again for the inconvenience caused.

    Thanks,
    Sarah

I guess that would explain why the BBC HD channels went missing again today?

For info, I'm tuned into the Emley Moor transmitter. It's a BT YouView box, DTRT2100, 84B08500. Component software: 3.6.154, Manufacturer software: 32.36.0.

The problem has been going on for a while now and fitting an attenuator makes no difference.

My HD channels did not go missing this time. I use a BT youview DTRT2100 and had the main HD channels go missing frequently. I recieve my channel from olivers mount (Scarbourough Yorkshire TV), But as I am insight of the Bilsdale Transmitter I tuned to this instead (although I prefer YTV news etc) I no longer have channels go missing.
This must be somthing that YTV are broadcasting on the channel change and hope that Youview/Humax/BT can sort out as there location may not be in the YTV area??

Sigh.  Channels disappeared sometime during the day again today.  A retune has brought them back again.

Any news on when the fix is going to be available?

The channels disappeared again overnight.   Twice in a week - that's fun!  There has also been a software update on the BT YouView box.  Mine is now on:

Component software: 3.6.168, Manufacturer software: 32.41.0.

Lets hope one of the software updates is for fixing the re-scan problem instead of it just being a "feature" update (I see a new Watch List and sections for TV Shows and Films).

    @Stein

These transmitters will be having changes at the minute.

    https://www.rxtvlog.com/2020/02/freeview-downtimes-and-retunes-in-store.html

Services from Emley Moor (pictured above) and many of its relays will be changing frequency in the last stage of the frequency change begun last year.

The changes in frequencies is the reason why there's a temporary mast on Emley Moor, next to the tower: the infrastructure used to transmit the TV signals is having to be changed - the temporary mast has ensured downtimes are kept to a minimum.

However, services will still need to be off air for a time between midnight and 6am on Wednesday 5th February.

Retune after 6am to continue watching channels including Quest, Paramount Network, QVC, Sky News, Challenge and Pick. Some HD channels will also be affected.

For viewers with reception of a smaller number of Freeview channels via a relay, services will be off air during the day, before returning in the evening. Retune then to restore any missing channels.

So... I got home on the evening of the 5th Feb and the HD channels had gone off my Panasonic TV. Did a retune and they appeared. All good. Went onto one of my Youview 2100 boxes and the HD channels were still there. Decided I should retune anyway as advised and I then lost the HD channels!! Did the aerial out, retune, aerial back in retune 'fix' and they came back!! I still do not have BBC NewsHD or QuestHD (not had for a few months now). I'm on Emley moor with 90% strength (with attenuator) and 100% quality.

I went through a similar sequence of re-tuning yesterday as well, but all the channels came back.
It shouldn't be necessary, but you could try reducing your signal strength further. 90% SS is still high.
Youview boxes seem to read low for some reason. Our box shows about 50% SS for BBC News HD, but the Panasonic TV shows 95%. Both are fed by the same aerial signal via a splitter.

The channels disappeared again on 10th February so the latest software update has not fixed the problem.

@Sarah Any news on when the fix that is being tested with Humax will be available?

  • steinstein Member Posts: 11
This comment on a similar thread on the BT YouView forum states they're trialing a fix at the moment and hope it won't be too much longer before it's available.

    Fingers crossed...

The channels disappeared again on 17th February.  This really is most frustrating.

Yet another retune was required today.

    Hi @stein @RHardaker @steviejay @jeawallace
We've started rolling out the fixes for this issue on BT and Retail and we're aware of a channel change occurring tomorrow. If you have a chance today, it'd be helpful if you could check how many channels you have today and again tomorrow evening/Thursday morning. With this, it'd be helpful for you to confirm the software version you're on as well, this can be found in Settings > Software information.
    Thanks a lot :)

    Hello @Sarah,
As of right now I currently have 166 TV Aerial Channels, 175 Subscription Channels and 179 Hidden Channels. The box is on 32.42.0 / 3.6.168 so it looks like I don't have the software update yet.

So I've gained 3 stations overnight - no idea which ones though!

    Hello @Sarah,
After the channel change, I have lost the usual channels and now have have 134 TV Aerial Channels, 175 Subscription Channels and 179 Hidden Channels. The box is on 32.42.0 / 3.6.168.

After a re-tune, I'm back up to 168 TV Aerial Channels.

  • SarahSarah Member Posts: 1,812 admin
Thanks both for this. We were aware that the update resolved this issue but it's good to see the results!
@RHardaker Yesterday+1 was added on channel 75 so that should be one of the new ones, the other changes were either removals or channel number changes so not too sure what the other two channels are but more is better than less at least!
@stein hopefully your box will receive the update soon so you don't need to retune again when the next channel changes take place.
    Thanks,
    Sarah

Can anyone help. Following the software update I have lost my 1-5 HD channels and after several retunes, removing aerial and retuning to 0 channels and then plugging back in and a factory reset I cannot get them back.

I am on Emely Moor and never had an issue with HD channels before

    Hi Sarah,

I have my TV service through Plusnet.  Running a Humax DTRT2120 with component software 3.6.154(d822208) with 162 TV channels.  I have recently started getting the drop out of main TV channels due to signal strength and get my signal from Emley Moor.  Re-tuned several times, but still have the issue.

Can you confirm when we will get the software update please?
    Thanks,
    Stephen

    Hi @StephenT

    Welcome to the forum :)

We don't have the exact dates for when these boxes will get the update however they are usually updated once the main BT update has been fully rolled out (we update the software table once this has happened).

Are you losing channels generally or just the HD channels? and is this happening on a regular basis or just around the 16th when Digital UK put some channel changes through?

    Thanks,
    Sarah
