I know there has been rumours before but I recently read them again that Vodafone want to become a Quad play company in competition with and with commercial partnerships with Sky/BT.
Mobile/TV/Phone/BB
Vodafone TV never made it in UK so an easy way in is buying or merging with TalkTalk.
They have a fibre network & 5G too & apparently could do bigger and better deals than BT & are on good terms with Sky as are TalkTalk.

TalkTalk have a decent customer base and Vodafone want access to all of that.
