You view box recorder

Hi , got a free view recorder box from Argos £130, was using it for 8 months, first thing one morning , box on standby as it is every morning and all it said on screen was loading, after a few moments said waking up, this is all it does' , remote will not work it, has new batteries in it, have tried turning every thing off, but still no good, both blue lights are on , Argos would not change it, as l was I'll at the time and it went over 12 month, any suggestions, thank you liz

    Hi Liz,
    Welcome to the forum. Often happens, you are not alone. The "joys" of owning a Youview box! 

    First thing try the quick fix: Press power button for 8 seconds, box will reboot & hopefully problem solved.

    If not, then move onto the next stage:  the maintenance mode. Just go along carefully & you should be able to fix problem.  Try Option 2 first.

    By the time you have done all this hopefully your box will be reset. BEFORE starting, don't forget to make a note of your schedules. They are stored in the cloud & should come back automatically, but worth noting in case they don't.

    Can't wait for the day when Youview get rid of the dreaded darkened banner when using fast forward/rewind recordings.

    Hopefully the advice from JohnL will work. If not, then go back to Argos. They must have been trying it on, a large retailer like that will be well aware of their responsibilities under the Consumer Rights Act. If you need to remind them, there is a very helpful guide here.
