Yvm401 error

We don't have the guide coming up on you view box. Have tried switching off and on. It is BT box but we are no longer with BT for broadband or phone.  Will they still help me or is there anything else we can do-really technophobe need an answer in very very simple terms!! Thanks for any help in advance!

    Note that Step 2 is a rather special sort of restart that you may not have tried, and which I would definitely advocate at this point.

  • I did try that yesterday. Unfortunately now the box is not working at all. It will not switch on though there is a red light on. Seems we can't record anything . I was wondering if BT somehow have disabled it as we no longer pay them for broadband or phone?

    No, they don’t and can’t do that. But the chances are that it has failed.
    I don’t know if the box is functional enough still to do it, but you could try an Option 2 Maintenance Mode reset. 
    More drastic even than what you tried before, but if it works, it will still leave you with your recordings intact.
