Full NOW TV is now available on YouView devices

SarahSarah Member Posts: 1,812 admin

Hi all,

We are excited to be expanding our competitive range of content with the addition of full NOW TV, which is now available for YouView Devices*. This will mean that all NOW TV passes (Entertainment, Sky Cinema, Sky Sports, Kids & hayu) can be used on YouView.

Users can also access live channels included with the different passes through the NOW TV Player.  For more information on the different passes, check here.

Users with BT will have the option to record the NOW TV live channels available through the EPG, offering the UK access to the widest choice of the very best TV shows, films and sport available. More information on this can be found here.

*This excludes the T1000, T1010 & DN370T devices. TalkTalk devices are still in the process of being updated so devices not on 72.48.87/60.42.87 will only have access to the Sky Cinema pass until the box updates to the new software version.

Thanks,

Sarah

Got to say the NOW TV app does look good! Well done YouView! Now just need YouTube and that would, just about make up for your removing the mobile app, which was the best thing about YouView!

@Sarah I can't sign in? When I try to access my NOW TV account the field remains resolutely blank despite key presses on the remote, which otherwise works fine.

    Hi @redchiz
Does an onscreen keyboard pop up at all when you try to sign in? Also can you please let us know the software version your box is running on along with the NOW TV app version? The app version should be in the bottom right of the screen on the 'My Account' page.
    Thanks,
    Sarah

    Hi @Sarah ,
The NowTV website doesn't include YouView as a compatible device for the NowTV HD / Dolby 5.1 boost. Can you confirm whether YouView boxes support this boost
    Thanks

    Hi Chiz,
Have you tried powering it off at the mains and doing a reboot after you've turned it back on? We've tried logging onto NOW TV on a box using the same software and haven't been able to recreate this so far so it'd be useful if you can try this if you've not done so already.
    Thanks,
    Sarah

    Hi @Anaglypta
Can you let us know which part of the page you mean? We can see YouView is listed under 'What devices support NOW TV Boost?' This article also includes YouView as a compatible device for Dolby 5.1.
    Thanks,
    Sarah

    Hi @Sarah ,
From the link I posted scroll down to the FAQ section, then click on "What devices support NowTV boost?"

OK I just checked again and the FAQ is now showing YouView as a device. I suspect that the old page was still cached on my machine - sorry for the confusion. :(

  • Wow! Brilliant - Mrs L could never swap to AV2 - find the now stick remote and change the AV receiver off talktalk. This is going to be excellent and I will defo be looking to subscribe to movies now as well as the Entertainment. wich we have.
Any ideas when TalkTalk can start recording the  entertainment channels? (We never watch live TV!)
    cheers,
    Richard

Hi again Sarah. I had tried a soft reboot and subsequently tried as you suggested. No difference I'm afraid.
  • Just tried it after waiting for update - TalkTalk box said no internet - but it had updated software - and settings said internet fine. Powered off and rebooted (at back not front standby) and all is good.
Love the MyList how it updates across devices logged onto NowTv (different rooms and devices here).
    Just one question:
Inside the "live TV" feature are some live Skymovie channels - how come I can see them? Does it know I've subscribed to Movie pass? I can play live or from store on either now or next - how fantastic!
Love this so much - thankyou Youview or TalkTalk or NowTv or whoever did this!

    Hi @redchiz
Sorry to hear that. A factory reset would reinstall the app so this may help but obviously we know it's not the most ideal thing to do.
It might be worth asking NOW TV as, since we've not been able to replicate it on the exact same box and trial software, it's likely to be a bug with the app itself rather than the box.
    Thanks,
    Sarah

I think you may be experiencing an issue that has been around the quite some time on a few devices, not just youview. Where the app doesn't bring up the on-screen keyboard by default. There is usually a way to get round this, however, when you have the email address/username field highlighted. Press select/okay on your remote and it should bring up the on-screen keyboard.

One more thing that everyone should be aware of is that if you are someone who has now TV boost in order to enable surroundsound you need to go to the my account section and press the settings button next to the boost pass, there you should find an option to enable surroundsound

@Ash You are a genius, it worked! All up and running now. I wish I could give you more than one "Like," perhaps other posters will chip in? Thank you so much.   :)

I was wondering why Now TV (who know I'm a YouViewer) emailed me last night offering me Now TV Entertainment for 2 months for £1. One hour later the full package went live on my box and then I knew.

No. I voluntarily dropped out of the trials for various reasons and haven't renewed since.

It will just be an inducement to get you back then.

Its a cracking deal but I don't have a lot of love for Sky's output and rather think of it as a subscription repeat channel, Sky Cinema being the worst. On Demand may peak my interest as I've only ever seen the first 6 episodes of Game of Thrones. Maybe.

Hey, that's a matter of choice. There is loads of dross on there, but that can be said of any subscription service once you get past the highlights. Personally I often find stuff to watch on the Entertainment package, there is some high quality original content. And the on demand catalogue is massive. I agree about Sky Cinema though.

Thats interesting. Do you have any recommendations for Entertainment? I'll watch anything if its any good.

Ah, like I said it's a matter of choice. And maybe taste. But, from a personal point of view here's a few: Big Little Lies; Chernobyl; Veep. For a £1 a month have a dabble!  :)

You'd be surprised how many haven't, not counting pirated views.
Someone once sent me a link of one of those to watch it but I didn't as one has no idea what kind of cr*p and malware can be downloaded from them.

Well I'll add it to the list then. But there's a lot of it, I hope you have plenty of time in your cheap two months!
  • any idea why one box in the house has updated to this but not the other? Both are 372T. The one that has not updated says software and apps are both up to date if I check?
    thanks
