When the app appeared I subscribed and was enjoying Britbox until the app disappeared after the last youview update. Have reset twice and the app hasn’t come back. No one seems to know why

    Hi @Gez

Where are you looking for Britbox?

I have the issue that the App that should be after Britbox in the ribbon, BBC Sounds, does not show up in the Apps ribbon when I scroll right.

But it does show up when I scroll down instead of across, to the specific Apps page, where it is the tenth, and bottom, thumbnail.

As it is the tenth App down, maybe the ribbon only holds nine.

Do you see BBC Sounds in the ribbon?

Do you see Britbox on the Apps page?

How many Apps do you see there?

    Hi Roy,
Thanks for helping, on the players page I’m seeing 12 apps, ending with Sounds. Britbox used to sit below that, on its own on line 4. On the apps page I can only see two apps BBC news, BBC sport and help.

Thinking about it- it may have been Sounds on its own at the end and Britbox where Sounds now is

The Settings tab has mutated into a small icon top right on your screen, in one of those apparently pointless and irritating ‘improvements’ that YouView seem to delight in spending their time on, instead of doing something useful like bringing back the ‘Hide Channels’ functionality that we had before NextGen.

If you look top right, can you see Settings there, or has it truly disappeared off your box?

    Hi @welshgit
Can you please go to Settings > Software Information and confirm the Component software, Manufacturer software, Platform Config and ISP Config for us? If it's easier, you can take a picture of the screen and upload it.
    Thanks,
    Sarah

    Hi Ken,
The latest software rollout should be complete within the next week. We'll update the software table once this has been done. BritBox is coming soon on BT however we're not able to give out any further details until it's available. Once it's available we will announce it on here and on our social channels.
    Thanks,
    Sarah

I have 15 apps on my retail box, which are ordered in 3 rows of five. Both Britbox and BBC Sounds need a lot of improvements to them.
I'm now happy with the disagree icon, because its gone.

Sorry but nothing has mutated into anything and your post is rather reactionary. Its a change, that's all. Do you find this change detrimental to your YouView experience? If so how?

Well yes - l liked Settings where it was, thank you.

And let me turn the question round - do you find this change an improvement to your YouView experience? If so how?

But I’ve never seen a single post asking for this, whereas I’ve seen lots for other things, and I doubt if it ever made Keith’s collective wish list in any form.

So whatever development effort went into this, I think could have been deployed more profitably on almost anything that any of YouView’s users had ever asked for.

You didn't answer my question, which is fine. And just as you, I doubt any of @Keith 's suggestions will ever be implemented either, sadly. If theres no will theres no way.

What part of “Well yes - l liked Settings where it was, thank you” didn’t answer your question?

I prefer the new one. The part of my question you didn't answer was -

Do you find this change detrimental to your YouView experience? If so how?

So @Keith wasted his and everybody's time thinking that there may of been some improvement.

    Sigh - again, then......

Answer: Well yes - l liked Settings where it was, thank you.

To expand, as you seem to need this: Nice big clear word in the line of options, replaced by stupid little gear wheel icon tucked away at the top of the screen.

To add insult to injury, when you select the gear icon, it tells you it is SETTINGS, by putting the word up, just as the ? puts up the word HELP.

But if YouView insist on doing it this way, why not bring these options up already labelled? This will be clearer, and more helpful.

And if you want to make the point that getting to Help is now less keypresses - which it is - then the overall number of keypresses we have to make could be massively improved by moving Apps to the left of Guide, making MyTV one keypress away from Guide, as people here have repeatedly asked for.

An improvement that isn’t even an either/or with the Settings change.

    Need I say more?

You should not be defeatist over this.

If you look at these posts of Keith’s, you will find a fair few issues addressed; and even for those that aren’t, many of them serve as a standing rebuke to YouView, and a reminder of how much time they spend pursuing their own rather inexplicable agenda, and how much (or little!) on being solicitous to their customers’ wishes.

Is there no Search button on the Britbox app, labelled either with the word, or as a little loupe 🔍?

I have one on my iPad version of Britbox.

But no Blake’s 7, alas, with or without the apostrophe.

And a wider search, with JustWatch, fails to find it anywhere.

This seems to be a grave omission.

Agreed. Its been requested to be added by many users across various internet fora, so at least Britbox know it would be a popular add.
The comments on other fora also echo the ones on here - Its not for everyone, content library is a bit small and they aren't adding titles quickly enough, picture quality's very good but it can be a bit buggy etc, and as previously discussed, its censored and aren't the full versions available via series on disc.

£35 from Amazon? Ah no! I like it but not that much. Or one could just watch Blakes 7 on Youtube for free, the link I'm giving here has had over 1m views, but has been up and running for 6 years -

I'd much prefer it via YouView though, either on the iPlayer or Britbox.
