Mobile app discontinued

All should be aware that the YouView app has ceased to function. The BTTV app is not compatible with my Humax DTRT2000 box, has anyone got any idea what the future plans are to produce a further alternative? This move is such a poor customer experience.

    Works with mine too.
Not as convenient as the Youview app, but at least it works.

And mine - took a bit of figuring out how to pair - you don't need a BT ID. Just go to settings.

The BT app works fine, not as intuitive as the youview app but it works.
Go to the BT tv app bypass the BT I'd (easily done, you'll soon work it out) and locate the tv guide.
For the record BT tv app works on all t2000 and 4000 machines.

Not sure what you mean by "bypass?" You don't need a BT ID to use the app for scheduling recordings, just pair the app with your box as usual.

It might ask you to log in. This could be just happening to myself as I have a BT ID.
If you struggle to pair your box dont give up as it does work.

The YouView app, with YouView's usual misplaced brio, says it is ‘temporarily unavailable“. Well, that’s going to be a long “temporarily”.

The trick with the BT TV app is to go to Settings, but not try to access the Device Management option.

Instead, just enter the TV Box option, where you should find that you can pair with your T2000 - I’ve paired with my T2000 tonight, and set a recording for Indecent Proposal on Sony Movies, something we can’t get on catchup.

I picked it out from Live TV, Full TV Listings, which is analogous to the YouView EPG on the YouView app, except it has channel numbers as well as logos, which I always wanted on the YouView app but never got - blissikins.

Also, even though it has the backward EPG, it doesn’t drill through to the available catchup programmes like the YouView app did - boohoo. I think BT TV subscribers can play live TV and catchup, but not us ‘retail refugees’ 😢

But that doesn't work with my Humax DTR-1010 box. BT have confirmed that it is "too old" although it doesn't feel that I have had it THAT long.  Feels like a backward step. Is there any hope that YouView will reinstate their app on the understanding that there will be no support or bug fixes?

Yes, bummer. I could do this with the YouView App.

A little bald, even though accurate, @Kodikid.

@JohnJ, a thing to know is that this wasn’t just an App, there was a server behind it, to which all your requests went, and then your YouView box had to come and poll the server for any requests aimed at it (rather as if you had to go to the Post Office and ask if you had any mail!), as well as telling that server all its EPG details.

So a bit more for YouView to look after than just an App.

Not that this decision ever made a lick of sense; and even the dark conspiracy theories that I entertained about this being skullduggery by BT have fallen to the ground now they have generously rescued us with their own App ☠️

    Hi People,
    Late starter here...
Having lost the Youview App, I downloaded the BTTV App some months ago...Only to find it couldnt do what I wanted it to do (Remotely set a program/series to record)...
I was about to delete the App today, but thought I'd take one more look & noticed the functionality is now available.....BUT I need to pair my Humax DTRT2000  & Huawei box to the App (Like the previous YouView App)....but its just not pairing...
The "Help" says I need my device/phone on the same network at the PVR.....simple right?...
The problem is the PVR is wired to the router, my phone is on Wifi....I've tried both the 2.4 & 5 Ghz wifi-networks the router puts out...but the App always returns "Box could not be found"...

    Any hints/tips?...or is it a non-starter?

    Cheers

    Welcome to the forum, mburton2.
Non-starter unfortunately. One app to one box only.

I'm now happy with the disagree icon, because its gone.

    @mburton2

You should be able to pair the BT app with at least one (but not both, as @Visionman says) of your YouView boxes, though.

To pair both, you would need another device than your phone to pair the second box with. And the Huawei would need to be the DN372T, not the older DN370T, I think.

It’s no barrier to pairing that the YouView box is wired and the phone is Wi-fi, but you do need to ensure that your phone is on your home Wi-fi, and not trying to use its 3/4/5G connection. See if you can put it in Airplane mode, and then turn just the WiFi on it back on, to ensure this.

It may also help to turn off the box that you are not trying to pair with, and only have the one box active. It should find both, and offer you the choice, but it may not always.

So start with the T2000, as we know that ought to work.
