Hi @Sarah - on the topic of clash management, there's another situation that could do with addressing: scheduled recordings for programmes that are later removed from the guide
When a scheduled recording in the future is removed from the guide by the broadcaster, it remains in MyTV as a "scheduling problem". However, one is unable to delete the scheduled recording of these problem programmes. Pressing delete just does nothing.
Worse, they continue to count towards the two simultaneous recordings limit, creating an unsolvable clash. Attempting to schedule a new recording in the time period as the problem programme just prompts me to go to MyTV to solve the problem.
The only way I was able to get rid of them was to boot to maintenance mode and use option 3 (option 2 kept the undeletable items).
My box is a T4000 on this latest software. The shows in question were on BT Sport (which is very prone to these kind of programme removals).
I used to try and record the Series ‘The Daily Show’ on Comedy Central HD (Plusnet Channel 370) and the schedule often changes, resulting in the ‘Scheduling Problem’ issue, which cannot be deleted on my T2100. However, I have managed to delete it using the BTTV app by going into the ‘Scheduled’ Section of my Recording List and swiping Left on the program to delete it.
To be honest I’ve now stopped trying to record this program. The Youview Box barely ever manages to record the whole program anyway as the recording regularly starts early and finishes early too.
Thankfully the program is on Now TV Catch Up, which I can watch using my Now TV Smart Box. I can’t use the Now TV app on my Youview Box as the problems with buffering and the app crashing are yet to be addressed (this problem does not appear to just affect the T4000 like BT keep saying, it also seems to affect the T2100 as well).
My T2100 Box has Software 32.51.0 / 3.7.8
My Services - BT TV Box Pro with Entertainment and Boost
Since this update I have found that the play/pause/rewind/fast forward functions to be very laggy when watching recordings or iPlayer.
At first I thought the batteries in my remote control might be failing but after trying a new set the lagginess was still present. Navigating the EPG and menus is fine it just seems to be limited to playback of recorded and streamed content.
@Peskdale61@mc2 Thanks for reporting this. I've raised it with the relevant teams to look into further. I'll let you know if I need any further details from you
@deedee36 since this is an on-going investigation, we don't have an ETA for a fix as these can vary quite a bit depending on how complex the issue is.
@barryc303 Can you please try giving the box a reboot to see if this improves things at all? This can be done by pressing and holding the power button on the top of the box for about 8 seconds.
It was a series record for MotoGP on BT Sport 2 HD. At the time I looked at it (Friday 13th), the scheduled recordings list had two entries listed as "scheduling problems". These entries were for sessions that weekend, but with different timings than those in the guide.
Incidentally, the series link had not picked up any of the actual sessions scheduled for that weekend.
Box is running softwares 32.51.0 / 3.7.8 (65c057).

Hi @Peskdale61 Can you please set up a series record for the Moto GP this weekend as well (if you've not done so already) and let us know if the same issue occurs? It'd also be useful to know if this happens on anything else you've got set to record on this or any other channel as well. Thanks, Sarah
Hi @Sarah I will schedule that series record now - however I'm not sure it will be particularly helpful for further testing, unless the schedule changes between now and then.
I've not encountered any such issue with other scheduled recordings recently. I have regular series records on several other channels, which have never behaved this way.
It is worth noting, before going any further, that MotoGP actually requires three series records. One covers all Friday and Saturday sessions, as well as the Sunday MotoGP race. The Moto3 and Moto2 races on Sunday then each require a separate series record.
My previous MotoGP series records were older ones... originally set a month ago (after the last time the schedulers broke them). They had been working for a couple of weekends, and were fine at the beginning of the week preceding the issue.
Midweek, after an apparent rescheduling by BT Sport, is when two of these broke - the main MotoGP one, and the Moto3 Race. At that point, these two became "scheduling problems". I could not delete them, and they were still taking up a slot in the scheduling system.
The Moto2 series record disappeared completely, with no entries in the scheduled recordings list.
But regardless of how these scheduling issues are occurring... not being able to delete them via the Youview box in order to try again is also a problem. Especially if they continue to count towards the two recording limit.
This is a maintenance update that also includes some notable bug fixes including:
• Audio drop outs and buffering seen when watching certain live streams via the NOW TV
app • Pressing pause when fast-forwarding would not pause the content
• Clash management wouldn't behave as expected and it wasn't possible to cancel a selected recording or it would cancel the wrong recording
• The user is unable to tune to another IP channel when another IP recording is taking place
• Recordings continue to play for approx. 5 minutes when put into standby during playback of a recording
• The box would get stuck on ‘Setting up TV services’ during first time set up
Please note that this is a phased release so not all boxes will receive it at the same time.
Thanks, Sarah
Since this update on my dtrt2100 , the record function has completely vanished. Recordings are still present. A maintenance reset (2) and (4) did not do anything. It looks like it has been deliberately crippled in the software. The red button at the bottom of the guide doesn't appear and when you go to guid and info on a programme , there is no option to record. All you can do is set a reminder , or view from an app. Given the itv app is flakey as anything, that means I can no longer watch itv except live. I can still pause live TV and view old recordings. The last successful recording was 11th November.
Is there any way to revert to an older version of software ?
And my (possibly faulty) recollection is that the features you think are missing were never there. Certainly, the original Guides never mentioned them, only the uses of the Record button :-
and this screenshot from 17/09/2017, NextGen, doesn’t show them either:-

Thanks for the screenshots of the old one. It's hard to work from memory of where the red symbol was, but I certainly know where it used to work
Unsurprisingly, yes , I have tried hitting record , on every screen .
It sets a reminder from the info screen, but no recording , from any screen. You certainly used to be able to record from within a live programme , from the mini guide, and from the info screen.
The functionality has just gone. It's as if they've updated my box to a read only version between 11th November and now.

I can record from the Guide, the mini guide, and the live programme, but not from the Info screen. This is in line with the description above from the User Guide.
As you have reset the box without any change, my next thought would be a problem with the remote. Presumably all the other buttons on it work? Does a light flash on your remote when you press one of those buttons?
(The PVR light flashes on my curvy remote as I press buttons - I don’t use the BT remote that came with the T4000 as I don’t like it).
If so, does it flash when you press Record? And/or, if you look at the sender on your remote with the camera on your phone, can you see that flash when you press Record?
We can't record from the BT app because we don't have a subscription any more after they overcharged us for months, but it recorded fine till a few days ago. That's why I think it has been consciously crippled by a firmware upgrade.
I have 2 remotes and the blue light comes on both when I hit the record button , and nothing happens . I'm 100% sure it's the box.

That simply doesn’t happen. And the BT app lets everyone record programmes, not just BT TV subscribers. Go into Live/Full TV Listings and try it.
I have 2 remotes and the blue light comes on both when I hit the record button , and nothing happens . I'm 100% sure it's the box.
And you have reset one or both?
Sure, it could be the box. It could even be every T2100 - it can’t be every T4000 as mine works like it should - but you are the only person reporting this, and the rollout is very well advanced.
One thing - can you see, and play, the recordings you have?
Absent that, it sounds very much as if the software has erroneously decided that you have a non-recording T2200. Does your update end 3.7.0 by any chance, not 3.7.8?
‘Have nothing in your houses that you do not know to be useful, or believe to be beautiful’ Wm Morris
I can see and play recordings. (That’s why I haven’t done a full reset yet. My family want to watch every recording once more before I wipe it). I have done the reset type 2 and type 4 though. (Reset without losing recordings, and reset with usb without losing recordings )
I have reset the remote control , and other than the fact it no longer controls the TV there were no other changes .
Thanks for your help. I am 100% sure this is a software issue.
Is there anyone else with a BT box , without a NowTV subscription , on a T2100 and 3.7.8 where the record button is working ?
The ‘save to mytv’ which uses the same hardware button, but from different screens , works fine.
I agree , it sounds like it now thinks it’s a non-recording version.
You still haven’t said if you can record via the BT App or not; that would be revealing.
Your box doesn’t quite think it’s just a zapper, since at least you can play recordings.
The other hypothesis is that recording on your box has got itself into a tangle; and there are parts of this mechanism that even an Option 4 can’t reach, and only an Option 5/Settings Factory Reset can.
So yes that would be software, 100%, but corrupted software just on your box or a corrupted disc with broken chains perhaps, so not the release as YouView supplied it, and so not on every T2100 out there.
But an Option 5 is not something to undertake lightly, or before all other options are exhausted, and certainly not before you family have had a chance to watch off all your recordings.
So let’s see who comes forward with a T2100 on this release, and what they have to say; and indeed, I would hope that one of those coming forward would be someone from YouView, who should be able to set up such a test fairly easily.
And do let us know if you can record from the app; my prediction would be not so, but I am far from certain about that.

Apologies .
I just saw the point about the BT app. At first I couldn’t use it because it was asking for a bt user ID and password , and on other bt sites , that is now inactive, but it does seem that the app still recognises it. I wasn’t able to finish that test , as I needed to reset password , and re-pair the app to the box since I had done the box reset , and that seemed to have lost the pairing . Will let you know.
I guess a full reset , losing the recordings is the next step
@barryc303 Can you please try giving the box a reboot to see if this improves things at all? This can be done by pressing and holding the power button on the top of the box for about 8 seconds.
Thanks, Sarah
While the reboot initially seemed to remedy the problem, unfortunately the lagginess with recorded / streamed playback has returned. Also my box has frozen a couple of times, which has never happened before. Everything was working perfectly before the software update.

Hi @barryc303 Is this affecting any other apps or is it only on iPlayer? Does the same issue happen when you try to do the same thing in other areas other than recordings? (For example, when pausing, fast forward/rewind live TV). Thanks, Sarah
Do I have any options but a complete factory reset, losing all recordings?
I will defer to any better suggestions that @Sarah or others may have, but in general when recordings stop working like this, nothing short of a complete Factory Reset will suffice, as this is the only option which will clear any disc corruption.
Even then, a Factory Reset isn’t guaranteed to fix the box, if it has more serious underlying issues. But the only thing is to try it and see.
And if the box returns healthy, you should find that the software release was OK, the record button on the remote works, and the BT App will also be able to set recordings. So some, if small, comfort at least.

If I hit the pause button whilst fast forwarding or rewinding it carries on for a brief moment rather than pausing immediately. This happens with both live TV and programs through iPlayer (including the "Ok to restart" function). I haven't had the opportunity to test the other apps for this problem.
Hi all, BT are currently rolling out a software update that should resolve the issue where you are not able to delete scheduled recordings which are marked as having a scheduling problem. The release notes for the update can be found here. Thanks, Sarah

Can you please provide the following information:
- Examples of content and the BT Sport channel they were on
- If they were set as a single or a series recording
- Confirm the manufacturer and component software your box is running on

But regardless of how these scheduling issues are occurring... not being able to delete them via the Youview box in order to try again is also a problem. Especially if they continue to count towards the two recording limit.

according to which model of remote it is, and seeing if the problem goes away.

Interesting results . I was able to get in on the app. At first , it appeared to allow me to record.
But then by the 4th item :
