Smart hub 2

Been offered BT complete wifi disc to connect with our BT smart hub 2.
Looking at the set up you connect both via ethernet cable and once done the disc operates anywhere independently. 
Is it possible to do away with my pla's and plug my bedroom T4000 straight into the disc?

Don't see why not. I think the SH2 does multicast over wifi so your subscription channels should still work. I'll stress the "I think" though.

It can work effectively although I'm not aware if BT have revised their advice from  2018

You may still need to use powerline adapters for any equipment that needs to be connected with a cable, like BT TV set top boxes.

‘BT TV set top boxes’, of course, are what used to be known as ‘YouView boxes’ before BT did the chest-buster thing.

On a related note, I have one of these black discs. Without it, the 350 Mbps achievable from our 500Mbps FTTP, when you are right next the BH2 at the front of the house, drops off to 80Mbps at the back; with it, 120-160 Mbps is achievable there.
