“Hey guys, the recording on YouView is disabled by YouView themselves, not Sony.”

@Sarah, care to comment?

    No comment on who's to blame, but it seems a little out of the blue on a thread about Freesat.
    Also "...but on the 2020 models I heard they don't get FreeView." doesn't sound very definitive if that's supposed to be Sony staff.

    Yes, I saw that too.

    Noted, and now queried there....

    I remember when Sony TVs were good. But I am quite old.

    21 would do it. We bought an absolutely belting 46in flatscreen Sony TV in 2007, HD but predating HD TV and so not having an HD tuner, but despite this, What HiFi? had it in their ‘best of’ section for four years. We kept it for 8 years, augmented by HD PVRs including the fledgling DTR-T1000, only replacing it in 2015 with a new 4K Sony Android TV. And less than a month later, with the Samsung we still have.

    You only have to look at the Sony Community to see how unsatisfactory these sets remain, and for how many people this will be their last Sony TV; but the slide was after 2009, and so relatively recent.

    They still arguably know how the get the best out of a flat panel though, so it wasn’t like they lost it transitioning from their Trinitron CRTs 📺; it’s just that everything else has gone to pot. Which is dangerously unobvious when you are showrooming in John Lewis’s, and judging on PQ alone 😢

    Ah, John Lewis, I am old enough to remember them too.

    I’m not sure that lockdown entirely agrees with you, @Redchiz 🤪
