Sarah, please can you let me know the IP address(es) that my Humax YouView box uses to update from?  Thank you.

    Sarah,

Does this change the menu layouts? My DT2000 now shows vertical menus instead of horizontal for guide, my tv etc. My old DT1000 box still uses the horizontal version

    Hi @antman666
This does change the menu layout, the changes to the menu can be seen here. The T1000 devices will not be receiving this update.
    Thanks,
    Sarah

This is just a freeview recorder and therefore, my primary need is to be able to record and then easily access my recordings. I'm not interested in the screen images but I would like the recordings listed (not in boxes), as many as possible on each page, and the option of categorising them alphabetically or chronologically. It's not rocket science.

Greetings, and welcome to the Community!

What you describe is the arrangement that YouView did away with in 2016, to the dismay of many users 😢

YouView boxes are designed to be a great deal more than just Freeview recorders, though; those would hardly need the internet, except perhaps for a remote recording app. Even Freeview themselves have raised their game in the internet stakes, bringing in much of the same internet functionality that YouView has had since 2012 in their Freeview Play specification which various manufacturers build boxes to.

It is the case though, that outside of the deep linking of Players from the YouView EPG, much of the internet smarts that YouView has can be obtained for a third of the price or less on various smart sticks; and so the plain old recording facility that YouView aspired to be so much more than has come back into prominence as its USP 😛
