Afraid the woeful content on Britbox is only matched by it's pathetic app. It's as if the app developers had never seen Netflix or Prime. Don't believe me...have a look at what other people think on Trust pilot.
All right then, Britbox UK, and I will be careful not to follow the style of the article quoted, which uses Britbox unqualified as synonymous with Britbox UK.
But it does not alter the substantive point that the quoted article goes beyond the original quote, which merely said the BBC (the UK arm, to distinguish it from its USA presence and other presences) was pulling out, to the absolute dissolution of Britbox UK such that if the BBC (as qualified above) left it much later, there wouldn’t be anything to pull out of 😛

I think @Ash knows about that thread, as he contributed to it.
But nothing back then quitesaid that Britbox was to be completely discontinued, though, did it?
Indeed I do know about the other topic. But as this in the first instance affects the britbox service in the UK I chose to put it here. This will feed into ITVX but not yet. Up to now it was being indirectly suggested that ITV would keep britbox UK. This is the first info confirming otherwise

"...Britbox UK, which the BBC is pulling out of as part of the launch of ITVX..."
And all of this is only about Britbox UK, not Britbox being completely discontinued.
