YouView Box

Do you NEED to have an ethernet cable connected from the box to my router - why does it not just pick up the WIFI?

You need to be connected to the internet for initial setup, or subsequent resets, and also to use catchup apps and receive updates.

YouView boxes are not wifi enabled (not sure about the T4000 box, but others will confim this).

Once set up you can use as a freeview channel recorder, but nothing else.

At this exact moment in time youview wifi doesn't exist.
Even the really expensive state of the art "pro" box from BT is wifi on paper but won't be till the new BT hub comes out, and then it will only work in conjunction with said hub.
So to answer your question that's why in 2021 you still need to attach a cable.
    Ignore this if you disagree.

T4000s are as hogtied as all the other boxes.
