This happens Every Update(since 2019) - and Only way is to Factory reset - and Loose all recordings - IS there no better way ?
Factory reset(keep recordings) - Completes with same issue
Record current program(pressing record Button) - Same issue - in MYTV - Failed to record
You might want to try installing a new hard disc.
And no, YouView being implacably opposed to any form of backup or box identity duplication, there is no better way, alas.
I once had to prepare a paper on very long term digital storage for a company only just released from the obligation to keep all the paperwork on a biplane they used to build (though it did at least see service in WW2).
Needless to say, the YouView box did not make the longlist, let alone the shortlist.
Oh well, if it’s TalkTalk’s, then they will just replace it for you with a new one.
Easy Peasy, Lemon Squeezy……
Maybe @Andrew67 is paying that?
But while TalkTalk supply non-recording boxes to new customers, it seems to me that it would be pretty shabby not to support existing subscribers with recording boxes that fail by making a like-for-like swap.
And if they really are absolutely not reusing returned recording boxes, it would be pretty dog-in-the-manger to want them returned at all, especially broken ones, and so Andrew67 should be free to do as he likes with the piece of wreckage he is currently faced with.
I need to find a better Live easy/TV solution where i can record live tv - and have a "stable " Record/Playable option. So when I record old series etc.. then an update wipes em.
Maybe change supplier - or just PLEX it(or similar) to cloud.
Great feedback tho guys, seriously
No, they no longer supply a like for like and do ask for the old box back otherwise charge £50 for non returned equipment. Initial boxes become your property at the end of the contract, but if replaced and you leave, they can ask for it back.
They have been sending out free 360T boxes to those who have 370T and pay the fee, so they can access Now, Prime and ITV hub, which no longer work on older boxes. Status of those on leaving is uncertain, but the customer retains their 370T box for recording. All gets very confusing at times.
As to what happens when, or if, they ever release a new box, who knows.
One lucky chap, who phoned, received a recording box, which must be old stock found somewhere, or maybe shouted loudly(?), on Christmas Eve. Or maybe Santa wove a magic spell, but we keep on being told no more 372T boxes, and indeed that's the norm on the forum.
Isn’t there a NetGem recording box in the offing?
Having said that the average smart TV can access Now and Netflix which if my memory serves me right is lacking on NetGem.
Fixes it .. (probs a disc error, or the read/write change after update)
Yeah i believe Talktalk no longer providing recordable boxes - to much hassle.
