DTR-T2000 SOFTWARE ROLLBACK ?

ANDGANDG Member Posts: 3
Hello!

I somewhat rashly updated the software on my DTR-T2000 BOX [Serial #:- 61 6007533  00746] to the “TalkTalk” version and find I am no longer able to access the BBC text service on red button.I have a hearing impairment and the text service was invaluable to me  - I would be grateful if someone could advise me on how to roll back to the previous software version.

 Current [new] software version details:-

Component Software                    3.7.236 [6507e3]

Manufacturers Software              32.135.10

Platform Configuration                  4814 [af760826]

ISP Configuration                              2402022

I attempted a factory reset – ultimately results in the installation of “TalkTalk” software version.

Unfortunately, this service is also unavailable via my current TV [QE65Q80T]

Any assistance in resolving rollback would be much appreciated - thanks

AndG

Sorry there is no way to roll back. If you try a BBC radio station and use the red button there this used to still bring up the red button services of old.

As for the TalkTalk software, this is not the case as the T2000 is a retail box and picks up the software from YouView that is appropriate to your box. What the box has done is pick up the TalkTalk skin and channels available, which is normal when using TalkTalk broadband.

Oh, sorry, meant to add that it is the BBC who determine which access to their services are available by product, so once the app has updated, it is not possible to go back.

Is it the "BBC Red Button service" you are after, or the "BBC Connected Red Button service" (once known as "BBC Red Button Plus service")?
The work round for the text  BBC Red Button service is to switch to a BBC radio channel and access the BBC text service from there using the red button, and then select "INDEX" or enter 199.

Sadly the T2000 is a pre historic machine,
( launched nearly a decade ago)
roll back is just swimming against the tide.
You deserve better,  invest in a 2022 machine.

    @kodikid

That’s all very well, but there isn’t one.

And you are probably confusing the T2000, which has not been left behind, with the T10x0 models, which have.

Thanks for the reply and information - will try an "update" using a different ISP

@ANDG that wont make any difference except that the wrap around skin will revert to the retail version, unless you use a BT line then it will pick up the BT theme.

The software will be the same, just the theme will change.

As soon as you reconnect it to your network, it will revert to TalkTalk.

Thanks for the further information - I am now able to receive "red button text" via a BBC radio channel as per suggestion - assistance appreciated from yourself and Luke
