    Thanks for the info.
Do you know the cost, or if a free version with ads will be an option?

Same cost after free trial of £6.99.
It says they won't be copying the North American two tier system of a cheaper with ad's version, so no discount there.
Personally I consider paying for ad free, money well spent, as these days I can bearly tolerate them.

Hopefully the app will also be on the Amazon Prime app via the Firestick also. Hopefully in time the paramount + stand alone app will come to the likes of the Firestick. As well as on the Apple App Store.

@kodikid yes I have Prime and also have the Prime Video app on my iPad Mini 6.
Just say if I got Paramount + I would have to log out of Prime at her house on her Firestick 4k then log in with my account. So may have been earlier for Paramount + to have a stand app.
Will wait to see some of the reviews first before I decide if I want to get Paramount + or not.
As I already have Prime, Netflix but I share the monthly Netflix fee with my sister. For 2 screens plus HD and I also have Disney + and Now Entertainment, Sky Cinema. Plus HD boost direct from Now. Since I cancelled BT TV back in March.
Also since getting the two Amazon Firesticks last year. I now find im sometimes using them more than the apps on the Youview box.

    Hi Darren.
No need as you can watch prime on 3 screens and two simultaneously.

Ditto never use my pro boxes for streaming, just basically to record the odd terrestrial program.

Truth be told if youview folded tomorrow I wouldn’t be heartbroken as my tolerance for ITV and the other commercial terrestrial stations and there never-ending repetitive ad's is at a all time low.

Watched the ninth gate on great movies while babysitting recently and it was practically unwatchable with the relentless ad breaks.

So Paramount + UK is going to launch in the UK through Amazon Prime. Thats interesting as that means two subscriptions will be required.

That's been the case since day one...

    Starzplay
    Discovery +
    Britbox
    MGM
Are all part of at least a dozen channels that are part of the prime app but not part of your subscription.

This is not unique to Amazon..on now you have at least 3 separate subscriptions (entertainment, sport and movies) included in the now app.

That is not true. But as Roy is a Superuser of Now TV I'll let him deal with that if he wants to.

What @kodikid said there seems fine to me. What do you think is wrong with it?

Yes not sure but I think what you have there is what's known in the trade as a "special offer " ( but in fairness there not really special as luckily there ongoing)
The thrust of my argument remains that you pay three (four if including boost, ) times within one app.

    @kodikid

And Hayu makes it five, if you want the absolute lot that you can buy from Now.

    @Visionman

Where did this pound suddenly come from, out of the blue?

Now are charging you a pound a month for £63.96-worth of Memberships, or what?

But if you want to know what you are paying for any Now memberships, you just look in your Account details - My Account/Manage Account/Now Membership or Bills & payments

@Roy - It was an offer they emailed me. Well, as I wanted to watch Ghostbusters I took it.

I'm an occasional Sky Sports user for what you call kick-ball when its offered on offer, so they have my email address Now (forgive the pun).

Ah, they are charging you £1/mo for one membership, as they call it, a Cinema one.

But I remain puzzled about what you thought was wrong with @kodikid’s posting - unless perhaps you misunderstood it to mean that you had to buy all the memberships even if you only wanted one of them?

Ah. No wonder we were confused.

Do you know of other streaming services that work that way, then?

No, there are are none. At the moment (not ATM) I only have Sky Cinema at a pound and Amazon Prime at full price. But then again I've always had Amazon Prime, as combined with it's on demand video I find it good value for money.

When Star Trek Strange New Worlds hits the UK on Paramount+ (on the 22nd June)  I'll wait and watch until the season is over. Then I'll dive in and may cancel, but might want to watch Discovery again (which is most hated amongst Star Trek fans).

I wonder how many new just out of the Cinema Paramount movies will end up on Paramount + and not go on the likes of Sky Cinema first.
I went to cinema Odeon this afternoon just outside town to see the new Tom Gun Maverick movie and it was very good. I really enjoyed it but it was  £12.75 to get in. Tom Gun Maverick is playing on two different screens in the 12 screen cinema. This was the first time I been back to the cinema since before Covid.
Going to the cinema although good. Now makes the likes of the main payed for streaming services seem cheap.
The now I getting 6 months of Sky Cinema for £7.99 a month till mid December via Now and 6 months of Entertainment for £6.99 a month till mid December. will wait another week to see if I can get another offer on HD Boost as the £2 offer ends mid July.

Tuesday evening app arrived on the Amazon Firesticks and iPad.
I have downloaded the app to my two Amazon Firesticks and my iPad but have so far not still not taken out a account for Paramount +.
Thought about doing so yesterday but ended up going to be early. As was at dentist yesterday afternoon and got a big filling done.
May get Paramount + over the weekend. When im at my sisters and also put the app on her Amazon Firestick.
I heard some of the latest Paramount movies may still be on Sky Cinema due to a contract Sky has with Paramount.
Dont think I will be getting anymore payed for streaming services after this.
For to have all the payed for streaming services out there is going to end up very dear.

Paramount + are offering a week's free trial.

That's the great thing about Now tv, Netflix Prime and apple prices are set in stone with no chance of a discount.

If I wasn't paying £7.99 for entertainment and movies I'm afraid if one had to go it would be Now.

Content especially the movies has really declined recently.

Having said that fingers crossed they offer Sky sports for £20 for when the prem starts again.

I agree the movies on Sky Cinema has declined over the years but there are still some good moves on there.
At times I use the Now entertainment more than Sky Cinema.
In the last 6 months or so its Disney + I been using the most.
I dont have Sky Sports for I would not watch it enough in a month to justify me paying for it.
  • VisionmanVisionman Member, Super User Posts: 10,303 ✭✭✭
The saturation of on demand streamers has now become ridiculous. There won't be many that can afford to pay for them all. VERY expensive.

    Couldn't agree more.

The trick is to be flexible.

One month I might indulge in a bit of Apple +
    Next month maybe paramount.

Think of streaming sites as a library or a restaurant menu
...you don't take everything, just what you want at any particular time.

Que relevant but nine times out of ten unfunny response from the Royster and the now obligatory venom filled but totally irrelevant response from bandwagon jumper Dimb.
