Disappearance of STV, Channel 4, Channel 5 and all subsidiary channels including BBC HD channels from Sony KD43XH8505 - any ideas on how to restore? Have tried auto tuning, then put back to factory settings and still no joy. Thanks

Greetings @ShonaS, and welcome to the YouView Community!

I guess you are here because you are using the YouView side of this TV, but the tuning of channels is actually from the Sony part of this collaboration with YouView.

The first thing to try is to pull the aerial cable out of the TV and auto tune it again. Finding no channels will clear its channel list, in case the TV is trying to hang on to it. (There’s a big channel rearrangement in the offing, but I didn’t think it was until the end of this month).

Then plug the aerial back in, and tune again. See if it’s OK now.

If not, switch to the Sony ‘Freeview’ side of the TV, and try tuning there. I’m not sure if on what I think is your 2020 set it’s as simple as exiting ‘Live & Catchup TV’, or if you need the older method:-
    1. Press [Home] button on the remote control.
    2. Go to 'Settings'
    3. Go to 'Channel Setup'
    4. Go to 'YouView Setup'
    5. Select 'Disable YouView'
    6. Select 'Yes' to confirm
      1. (If you have to do this, do it in reverse order, with Enable instead of Disable, to go back to YouView, once everything is sorted).
But once you are across, if you still have the problem it’s a Sony problem, so try asking on
      https://community.sony.co.uk/t5/android-tv/bd-p/Android_TV

However, if the issue is only on the YouView side, come back and let us know.

But anyway, please do let us know how you get on!

For info, I'm on the Crystal Palace transmitter and have already lost my channels, BBC 4 HD, forces, etc. not that they were watchable at all times anyway.

      Hi Steve
We'll all lose Forces tv as it's closing down on June 30th.
Deacon Blue hit from October 88

Yes, I appreciate that, but was just making the observation that I had lost already, which may be a contributing factor for the OP to consider.

And this morning the channels are back, so I guess yesterday was a case of atmospherics due to the hot weather.

@ShonaS, could this have been your issue? Are your missing channels back this morning or after a rescan?

The channels that you lost are on Com7 mux @Stevef_fr8ys. The channels that @ShonaS lost are on other muxes.
Com7 is transmitted at relatively low power.

I am often puzzled by TV reception. A few weeks ago a mux disappeared from one of our TVs. The other muxes all showed 100% signal strength and quality. Our other TV and recorders on the same aerial weren't affected. The mux didn't show up after a retune, but the following day it was back. :/

At times its best not to try and do a retune when you lose channels.
I have always been getting a weak signal from coms 7 in very bad weather.
Coms 7 is due to close just under 2 weeks time and more minor changes are expected in the Freeview line up in July. The CBS/AMC owned channels are changing in July with both CBS Drama and CBS Justice to close with some of there drama content expected to move to the new Paramount + service and the other owned CBS/AMC channels being rebranded.

Oh no, what about my Judy fix! At least she's due back on Prime in November I think.

I'm waiting to see the John Lydon episode again.

Perhaps it will be replaced by a medical channel with a very similar name? 😛
