ITVX

I am a deaf person and cannot get subtitles on ITV Hub.  My Youview Plus box has not updated ITV Hub to ITVX.  Have done a maintenance test (as suggested by Talktalk, reset the app, all to no avail.  Wrote to ITV who advised me that subtitles will be available on ITVX.  Is anybody else having this problem?  There are all these adverts on TV about ITVX but no use to me if I cannot get the app!

Apologies if this response sounds curt but...

Please stop posting the same issue in multiple threads.

You have received responses before and the advice has not changed.

This is an ITV issue and outside of YouView control.

To date I am not aware of either ITV X or Youview providing any update for the past month. That does not reflect well on either organisation.

Have since found out that ITVX is not available on Youview plus boxes.. It is only available on the Talktalk Hub box and the 4K box.  So they are now supplying me with the 4K box so that I can watch ITVX-which does have subtitles-and as a deaf person I will totally appreciate!!

Better double-check that the information in this link is out of date then:-

    😢

Though this link at least shows itvX at the top, if not lower down:-

I can confirm that ITVX is on the 4K box. It only has 1 tuner though so you can't watch a different channel whilst recording via the optional USB stick you have to provide.

It does have subtitles where available.

Not sure about the new Hub but given it's YouView based it should have it.

I’m not sure how you come to that conclusion?

YouView boxes are, presumably, YouView-based, but the whole issue here is that they don’t have itvX 😢

@Roy The 4k box is a Netgem one and I have tested this myself and this is the box being supplied to the original poster here.

The New TV Hub, is the latest flagship box (so TalkTalk say and only available at the moment to FTTP customers), and it is YouView based.

I've not seen this myself but there was a report in a recent Computer Active mag, that said ITVX was now available on this box, and also a BT box. I had to read it twice as the headline implied that ITVX was now available on YouView boxes, but clarified later on.

@Roy, here's confirmation on Cordbusters, you do have to scroll a fair way down though.

    @Stevef_fr8ys

The Hub link I posted above shows the itvX logo.

Some of the reports we have say that itvX will come without the live channels on certain devices - which as we have found on Sony TVs with YouView is a terrible mistake - but none of them confirm if these various itvXs have subtitles or not.

Though you have confirmed it for the TalkTalk NetGem 4K box, at least.

@Roy I can also confirm that the Netgem ITVX app does not have live channels.

And neither does my LG TV (does yours)?

No it doesn’t. I can’t exactly call it a retrograde step, as itv Hub didn’t either, but it’s certainly not the move forward that other streaming apps have made.

It isn’t/won’t be such a big deal on YouView boxes, which really do not make sense without an aerial connection, but we have seen a surprisingly large number of Sony TV users who never expected they would be limited without an aerial.

I have reports that itvX on Sony TVs does not have live channels. So still this assumption that if you have a TV, no matter how smart, you are going to want to plug an aerial into it.

Roll on FreeNet, or whatever they are going to call Freeview over the internet, so it doesn’t have to be just a BT TV thing,
