very poor recordings

Please can you help. I have a set top box.

Can the APPS be updated. My box says that my updated apps are the latest, But the box is showing the ITV app to be ITV whereby my TV shows the ITV app as ITX X
I am having problems watching recordings or catch up on my Youview box as the programs keep breaking up or just going off to a blank screen. The programs can be watched fine via my TV APP without breaking up. Therefore I can not record with any certainty that the recorded program is watchable.
Is there any way I can add or update my Apps to record on the ITV X app.

I also get the impression that you hope to record from the app. This is not possible.
If you are experiencing an issue with failed recordings or recordings not playing correctly, the try a maintenance reset. Details can be found here,

There may well be updates rolling out at the time, but they are phased; and those of us with more than one YouView box are quite used to having one box updated while another one is still saying ‘no updates available’!
But we know the update will arrive within a few weeks 😛
The YouView boxes are still providing the itv Hub though, with all the usual On Demand programmes present. So I’m not sure what extra itvX will bring; but likely it won’t have the Live option, and it certainly won’t let you record.
But even if it did, if you are having trouble recording terrestrial broadcasts, you would likely have trouble recording anything, as you likely have disc corruption 😢
@Stevef_fr8ys has pointed you to the Maintenance Mode feature. You should start with Option 2, which keeps your recordings. And maybe you will be lucky, and it will clear your problem; but usually, with disc corruption, you need the full reformat that is part of Option 5 to clear this up, and this will unavoidably delete all your existing recordings.
But at least there is a very good chance that this will give you back a working YouView box. And if it doesn’t, there is probably not much else to be done 😢
