Nice on the outside. The question is, what the heck is on the inside?

I found this other website which says it is a Freesat version:

    http://humax-global.net/gb/products/p...

Can YouView work over satellite or is this just a really bad mistake?

    Oooh, shiny!

Humax are still listing the existing 1TB box at the same price ...intriguing.
Perhaps it's just a new case, same guts inside.

I'd say the Freesat reference is a red herring though.

    @drhowells

    Hmm, Interesting...

    DTR -T1010 -

Point #10 states it's DVB-S2 and DVB-S compatible, which are satellite transmission protocols.

But point #16 states it's only got a 320GB HDD.
I'm now happy with the disagree icon, because its gone.

#11 ETHERNET SUPPORT (FOR FUTURE USE)

    Hmmm

A lot of the info is clearly incorrect, probably best ignored for now.

You're prolly right Martin, this post says 1Tb SSD, apps and widgets, 8 day EPG, 1080p, Fully compliant to UK DVB-T2 profile as well as DVB-T (no mention of DVB-S), Home Networking, CI+ slot?.

This is a freeview+hd youview box, not freesat, just stupid mistakes by Humax who should know better. Same internals as T1000, just a fancy looking box for those that want all their equipment to look premium for bragging rights ;)

The box in the picture looks nice, but look at our gadgets our TV's are black well most people's will be, do we want a silver box that will stand out too much under the TV.

Yes it looks OK but is it worth the extra £50 just because it is silver - the black glossy youview box from Humax is stylish.

    Silver is a no no

Then don't buy it. The standard black one is widely available.

Thanks for your comment - I was only giving my feedback, the Silver box is a NO NO as it will stand out too much under the TV, and the display on the front will be difficult to see.... Obvious from my comment that I have not purchased one, so your comment was a little strange.

I'm not sure if the DTR-T1010 is silver. Looking at **these** gallery pics, it may have more of a grained graphite/black finish which is reflecting light.

As for the price, the £299 is simply Humax's price - which is the same as they were listing the 1TB version of the previous DTR-T1000 (it's vanished over the past couple of days ...discontinued?), so this one's no more expensive.
Shop around & you'll find it cheaper - just as is the case with the smaller 500GB units.

I particularly like the blue LEDs of the display ...not a fan of the reds on the T1000 ;)

The T1010 is available here at £289, http://www.satbuyer.co.uk/humax-dtr-t....

The T1000 is still being sold, not discontinued at all, the T1010 is only a limited edition special, not a permanent replacement.

The front is silver, seen in flesh.

Thanks for the unboxing and demo LG Admin, Youview / Humax please just fix the firmware before making anymore boxes or you will lose out to someone else like Freesat or SKY.

A box is a box but the software is what make a box a device and makes it stand out from the rest.

LG Admin, Can you confirm that HDMI and SCART and be used together as this is a know bug on the T1000 and as yet 4 firmware update later and still no fix.

    Hi Matt,

When you say used together, can you clarify? Do you mean HDMI to one TV and scart to another or?

I still have the T1010 sat here, so I can check/test pretty much anything. What's the firmware issue?

if you are using the box to run two tvs (eg one in a different room via scart, the main one via HDMI), the epg is only available to the one running via HDMI.

Personally, I think this is a very old-fashioned way of watching on two sets. A network connection is really what we want.

The above in response to LG Admin, and it applies to the DTR-1000, I have no experience with the new box. (Why can't I edit on this forum?)

Thanks darucla for letting LG Admin know what the problem is.

Personally after paying £300 for a box both SCART and HDMI should have EPG at the same time. My setup for now is other TV a CRT and therefore no need to pay out £30 HDMI splitter and another £30 HDMI to Cat5 Extender and also there is the remote control signal to send back so I would need a IR over HDMI Injector Kit at yes you guess it £30 ok I lie this would be only £25.

Or you can just by one £15 audio/video to CAT5 adapter with a IR magic eye at one end and a IR transmitter at the other.

Does any set-top box, not necessarily a Humax, enable the EPG to be sent simultaneously over HDMI and SCART?
