How to use smilies on the Forum

Hi all,

I've been thinking about this for a while. As internet forums such as this one are primarily created to be a peer to peer engagement device. For user to user communication, discussion, problem solving, and problem reporting too.

But the English language is quite quirky, in that what you mean is often not what you say, but the way you say it. But as forums are just the written word, this can sometimes be difficult or misinterpreted. So using smilies would sometimes help with user to user communication.

So heres a link to a free smiley website with an ABC guide on how to do it -

http://www.freesmileys.org/smileys-ba...

The page I have linked to is the 'basic smiley' page, but there are many more.

Each smiley has three copy and paste options -

Forum Code

HTML Code

URL

And all you need do is copy and paste the HTML option. like this smiley - Smiley

And please feel free to use this thread as a tester to try it out.

I love using smileys because they can be a big help in indicating just how you feel at the time of your post, and help to avoid misunderstandings with other posters. (I think we need them on this forum!) I'm not clever enough to do it, but I wish someone who was would make it easy to add some emoticons.

    @Visionman

Cheers, here is the url for the first one: http://www.freesmileys.org/emoticons-... just scroll down to see which one I used!

    The second one is: http://zaazu.com/tv-movies-category-2...

I simply did a search for a smiley that had a TV in, and came up with that one!

Be nice if NotSatisfactory supported Emojis. I can put them in a message here, from my iPad, but they don't survive for long, and anything I type after one is completely lost.

Here are 6 Emojis and some following text. I bet when you look at this it stops here:☀

Posting on an internet forum is never the most nuanced way of communicating. Anything I post is, of course, never subject to misinterpretation...
