I'm not sure the restart would work for everyone, as they've had it since the update, and I'm sure they've all tried a restart - haven't they?
But as yours only kicked in recently, a reboot might work for you. No guarantees, of course, but it's the first thing anyone should ever try if their YouView box misbehaves.

I am having this problem too, sound via HDMI (1080p) to LG 50PK590 then out via optical cable to surround sound system. Very annoying! Never used to have tis problem, it's only started relatively recently.

I had the problem untill the latest software update a couple of weeks ago, however the problem has not happened since. The problem happened if I turned the tv on before youview box, however turning the Tv off and then on again( leaving the youview box on ) cured the problem. As my youview box is connected via HDMI I think problem is down to hand shacking problem.
This happened to me the first time last night. Latest s/w Panasonic ST60 HDMI (1080p) I didn't check optical I turned on Youview, which turned on tv - as usual I did a quick off/on on the youview to fix

This hasn't happened to me in a fair while now. I'm not sure if it's down to the restart or something else. However, I don't know what that "something else" could be as I haven't had a software update since August.

For info I've got a BT-supplied box and am on the latest BT software version and I'm using HDMI into a Samsung Series 5 LED TV.
Whenever I turn my youview box on, there is no audio to accompany the video. Usually unplugging and reloading has the desired effect, but this can sometimes take 1 or 2 tries. I've checked the cables so I can only assume the problem is with the box. It was new in January.

HDMI to TV, Speakers connected to TV via aux out (headphone jack). 6) Notable characteristics of the issue (e.g. the order that you turn on devices, the frequency of it happening etc). Happened from turn box and TV on with Youview remote (PVR On switches both) Also occurred when TV already on and source was changed to box and box turned on. 7) Whether changing channels works for you, or if you have to do something else to get sound back. Changing channels/replaying a recording works 9/10 times once it didnt and several channels had to be cycled until sound worked. 8) When was the last time you experienced this issue with no audio on start up. 1 week ago ish (Early October)

Hi SW, to clarify I feed back each case individually so we can build a picture of the issue. So we have been looking at the different reports where this has been mentioned and the setups people are using from the initial reports.

Just to confirm, it appears to be happening on both SD and HD. I only use two players (Now TV and iPlayer) and it's happening on there.
Another odd thing, is that if I turn-on the YouView box and it has no sound, go into MyView to watch a recording (sound is fine), there's still no sound when I exit out of the recording back to broadcast TV.
I am on Software release 14.5 since October 25th with Humax box into Panasonic 50 inch TV. I have experienced this issue of no sound occasionally. However, since 14.5 was installed I have a more persistent problem with the volume output from the Humax box. It is now so low that I have to turn the soundbar volume up to maximum. Reverting to TV reception without Humax on then becomes deafening.
This happened to me yesterday without me noticing. I switched the YV on which switched on the TV. I only put them on to try out some picture settings. After a minute or two adjusting the picture on the tv settings, the sound suddenly kicked in.

Connected via HDMI to a Toshiba LCD TV but audio via S/PDIF to a Yamaha AV amp.
Also found out it happens to my mother's box and she'd connected to a Panasonic plasma just via HDMI.
Both been like it for a couple of months.
Would also like the separate surround via S/PDIF issues to be fixed soon.

This has started happening more frequently.
I've noticed it's more prevalent when waking to an SD rather than HD channel.
I've also noticed that if you come out of a player to an SD channel, then there is also no audio until a channel change.

It has lately, but not all of the time (probably - and this is very rough - around 80%). The only players I tend to use are NowTV and BBC iPlayer.
I'll try it with HD and see what happens.
