No idea, but anyone using android or iOS and wanting to easily add Netflix to an HDMI (but not smart) TV can do it with chromecast for as little as £18. Then if/when YV add it, it still gives access to GP Movies etc etc, or could just be put in the kitchen or bedroom TVs.
Android phone users can also access Amazon Video now, and with a top rank mobile they can use official android mirroring to mirror the Amazon stream from the phone to CC and thence to the TV.
None of that has anything to do with YV of course, I simply throw it in the pot as an easy way to add access to Netflix and other online subscription, buy, rent, or indeed, free services.
pointless waiting for this any longer. I am ditching YouView partly for this reason. I just don't want an additional box just for the catch-up services. Plus, I think YouView's USP is a great idea poorly executed. Scrolling back in time in the guide is of no use unless you can access the program you have just missed right away, or lookup the program, not the channel and the time it was last aired.
That's superb news. Particularly as I have just cancelled BT broadband and TV and apparently the £5 tv subscription and the BT broadband contract has no effect on the functionality of the Humax YV box. Great news! I can use it in another room WITH Netflix!

Neither Chromecast, nor the Roku Streaming Stick (chromecast wannabe but with a remote [no volume]), introduce another box. They're dongles.
If the various box solutions, Roku 3, Apple TV, Fire TV, and now Nexus Player are *better*, so they should be. That's what you pay for.
I'd probably have gone for the Nexus when it's launched, but it's wireless only, so I'll stick with chromecast for now.

Box, dongle in a real world sense they're effectively the same. It's still another device, another remote. I would consider a Nexus Player though.

Yep. For some weird reason, in mobile there is no "Cast Extension" as there is for the Chrome browser on PC/MAC.
So, depending on device, it's either mirroring the whole thing, as on your N7 2013 and my N4 (but not my N7 2012, nor anything iOS), or trying a third party app. With the new official android mirroring, I've cast Amazon Video and it works pretty good.
Phone gets warm, and no doubt eats battery, but still. Try it on your N7.

I know my N7 casts to my 2013/2014 Samsung TVs and my Sony BDP5200 Bluray players, all being Miracast-capable.
But I've got 4 dumb TVs that would benefit from a Chromecast smarten-up and still just the one Chromecast between them until Google get their act together over Chrome for Mobile. I can't imagine what the delay is, unless it's too many test phones getting warm, or not working at all.
My Moto G has casting in the menus, but not the option that would let it cast, so it can't cast to anything.. Though it says it can't find anything to cast to, not that it can't do it.
Rumour has it that this handset just hasn't got the welly for the job :-(

Our main TV is 2011 and can only muster a half-arsed Samsung version of DLNA, so ugly they clearly sub'd the job out to a design team usually working on eastern bloc affordable housing.
One way or another, and with greater or lesser elegance, we can get local content on the big screen. It's not a huge need for us. If I back it up to Google + or YouTube and set it private, I can cast from there too, over t'internet.
Kitchen TV is as dumb as I am, so chromecast #2 on it is a huge step forward. Upstairs we use tablets and Filmon etc. It's good enough.
Methinks a new main TV is on the horizon. In this company, I feel woefully inadequate, kit-wise. Problem is the panel still delivers a great HD picture from good material.

My LCD TV is something like 8 years old. It's analogue only, personally I'd not use the digital tuner anyway with a PVR too, so that's no loss and is 1080i not 1080p but it lets me watch HD TV and Blu-rays so I don't see any particularly reason to change a TV that still works 100%.

We play leapfrog all the time with our TVs; the 2011 UE32D6530 in our bedroom with the YouView box is the most capable TV in the house, Smart, 3D and all that, even though the latest TV is a dumb 2014 Samsung 19 incher in the kitchen, the prime candidate for a Chromecast, since 19" was all the space we had, and Samsung Smart TVs start at 22" only.
But our 'big TV' in the lounge is a 2007 Sony 46" whose picture we have never seen bettered, even today, at that size. Full HD, but it predates HD tuners, so a Digital Stream PVR provides it with HD channels, while the Sony Bluray provides it with smarts. To exploit the 3D on the Bluray, though, we have to get the projector screen out :-(
We also use tablets and FilmOn, mostly cast via Apple TVs, but only to get over Sky shutting down in Spain.
However, I'll swear I can hear our UE55HU8500 there (see what I mean about leapfrogging?) sneering as it synthesises an extra three pixels for every one the FilmOn signal relayed by the Apple TV passes it... :-)

I was a true Sony fan for years, and still like their TV's. We once paid £1800 for one of their 32" flatscreen CRT's. It took two of us to lift it.
But we jumped ship when we saw the sheer bang-for-the-buck offered by Samsung.
Off to look at 19 inchers now. Our kitchen one is a **** no brand external PSU jobby from M&S when they did tech.
