Does any else have problems with recordings sometimes missing the start and end of recordings. You can't extend recording times.

It happens. Youview use accurate recording technology. Only some of the broascasters refuse to bring the technology to there channel. Accurate recording technology is part the box part the broadcaster sending correct start and stop signals with there broadcasts. Unfortunately as some broadcasters don't play ball the only thing the box can do is default to using the clock and start and stop bang on the time the show is scheduled for trouble is the bad channels have been know to be a minute or two out which causes the clipped recordings. BBC ITV channel 4 and 5 have accurate recording technology if you record in those you are ok.. The likes of CBS are a known problem which makes my blood boil.

Hi Ed, sorry to hear about your clipped recordings. We can look into them for you and pass this on to the broadcaster. Can you let us know:
    • Programme
    • Channel
    • Date/Time
    • How much of the recording was clipped

I'm having the same problem numerous different channels when the recording stops in the last 1min to 30 seconds of the show which is usually the important bit that leads on to the next episode , Why can't we set the recording for slightly longer then the advertised time

Hi Steve it's not how youview works it uses accurate recording technology. Unfortunately it relies on the broadcasters to send start and stop signals correctly unfortunately some broadcasters have not implemented the technology in there broadcasts and the youview box if it doesn't get any signal defaults to the clock and is bang on in its timing unfortunately some of the broadcasters are less bang on and it will unfortunately cause the issue your facing.

CBS are the worst offenders of this.

A workaround, pitiful though it may be, is to record the programme after the one you want as well, as long as you don't thereby cause a recording clash,

Since the signal that ends your chosen programme prematurely is the same signal that starts the next programme early, you will find your lost minute or two at the start of that recording of the next programme.

Roy tried that , had a series that ran 4 episodes one after the other, missed, the last 30 seconds in the first recording and got the credits at the start of the second and so on then missed the series  clincher
