This thread is for feedback from users who have 27.50 only. Thanks.
Overall I am struggling to think of a double digit number of posts that have ever been forked (i.e. bounced out into their own thread) in the 5 years of this forum, such an action is thus very very rare. Of course past performance may not be an indicator of future behaviour with a new community manager
As for where people should post, in general it would be lovely if all the threads were neatly organised and on topic but that is about as likely as YouView rolling back to the old gen software. Given all the next gen public releases are so far almost identical (with only the latest one containing just very small feature adjustments) one might argue posting such feedback across any of the many threads on next gen is as good a place as any. (in the absence of having kept it all in a single thread). Perhaps a simpler solution would be for YouView to rename all these topics to 'Next gen feedback N' (for N=1...) and consider each a bucket within which feedback will gather.
If of course we get some substantial changes in the near future then it would indeed then help to close off those older threads and direct people to a new (set of) buckets. Better yet such continual improvement would rapidly address the most niggling matters and hence mean many people currently coming to the forum no longer feel a need to come and repeat or add to the points largely know from day one and instead are once again mostly content and enjoying using their box (and not need to consume their time posting their frustrations here) ;-)

Keith it happened today. I know because I had a post removed that was no longer needed because what I replied to was forked to its own thread. Obviously Sarah and sanj are to different people so will have different management styles. But I and I assume others hope to see this happen more often to keep the threads more tidy.

The number of post regarding off-topic comments is getting ridiculous.
Youview staff have the ability to manage the forum in the way they see fit. Do users really need to constantly repeat the same 'don't do this, don't do that' comments?
And Daniel, I'm pretty sure not everyone knows the ins and outs of your life. So probably best to not assume people know your work/health status.
This thread is for feedback from users who have 27.50 only. Thanks.
Sydney no one said you couldn't post I was saying it's better to post in the correct thread instead of ruining this thread for everyone so please don't put words in my mouth.
This thread is for feedback from users who have 27.50 only. Thanks.
Hi Daniel - you can rest assured I saw the fork made earlier, it was a most rare occasion but one I did indeed notice, perhaps it will become more common going forwards
This thread is for feedback from users who have 27.50 only. Thanks.
Wayne posting in the wrong place about older software spoils a thread for people who want to post about 27.50.0. In regards to my health diagnosis I don't hide it but that is my choice to make but when people post about saying I work for this or that company when I can't work because of my disability it really gets to me so I put people straight about that. You don't realise how many new members have acused me of working for youview just because I have a difference of opinion.
This thread is for feedback from users who have 27.50 only. Thanks.
Daniel. You just didn't understand my comment. When I was talking about admin and police I was actually talkking about administration and policing of these threads. not working for the police.
Sydney> "Better, but still missing the features that we had before and were coming 'soon'."
A comment you have often repeated... As announced by YouView here - "MyTV is a top priority. Rest assured that your views and opinions shared here have been fed into the planning of further developments we are making with MyTV to bring improvements and new functionality." https://community.youview.com/youview/topics/forum-feedback-on-mytv-in-next-gen-software
Thanks to feedback both on here and elsewhere, addressing My TV became the top priority for them, not the 'Soon'. And what an amazing difference its made. Still, can't please everyone, eh?
Robbo. I agree. Rubbish programming. I don't understand why the 'owners' of YouView allowed such low grade programming to reach the stage of being sent out to millions of users.

Maybe talktalk and BT will see the light and go for a better system than YouView. They will be concerned about all this negativity to the platform that they are using.

Can't see that happening talk talk and bt are a shareholder.
Robbo> "The icons are all very pretty, I can live with them but prefer the previous simple listing of recordings. What is totally **** is that with internet channels we can no longer start a recording at a specific point. I have a 5 hour recording of British Superbikes, I know what time a certain race is due in the recording, can I jump forward 3 hours like I used to be able to do, not now I can't."
There are comments like yours littered across the internet with all agreeing, including me. Whilst the return of this feature hasn't been confirmed for slotting yet, it has been fed back so YouView know do about it. And our common theme? We're all sport watchers and funnily enough, none of they minded the tiles, either.
I'm now happy with the disagree icon, because its gone.

Big companies can be very fickle when their customer base is affected. I know as I work for one.

Why do you ask questions that you think you now the answer too? Have you ever considered that in the future or even just around the corner there may be something new. Now I could tell you but as you know there are NDA's to consider.

Sydney, just show me a better platform or don't. Please remember you are the one that stated the above not me.

As I said before, I don't need to as you are just a user like me.
Can you please at least give us the option of a recordings list. The tiles are so difficult to navigate with 11 pages. Interesting that freesat has not followed your lead !!
How hard would it be to at least give the option of a list view? Please implement it as a matter of urgency.

VM, "better" is subjective, just like the opinion on this update is subjective. Your continual challenge to anyone who wants to look at the alternatives is not constructive - it is confrontational and aggressive. Every person that you have challenged (recently, that I have seen) has come online with the opinion that the Nextgen update has been a step backwards. Those people are seeking alternatives, options, something that will restore their everyday action of watching TV back to what they knew, liked, and bought in to. Rather than the challenge/shoot-down approach, perhaps it would be more constructive to direct the question to your own post: https://community.youview.com/youview/topics/list-of-alternatives-to-youview
Scott> "Nice improvement. Keep em coming :-) I especially like the definition between each tile now. Also shows there is promise behind the faster rollout of improvements." I've been amazed at how quickly they have got this out which is certainly proof its no YV 1.0.
The removal of the big tile and making all others the same size and equidistant from one another has certainly helped. The effect of which now includes wider tiles with a fuller description. And being dropped onto the oldest and first episode on a series record is a godsend. Its still not perfect but its a start.
VM:
Do you have this, MrMcg?
Are you asking if I have update 27.50.0 ? Can I counter that question - do youhave 27.50.0 and 27.46.0 and 27.44.0 and all the other variants that you are commenting on? (have - present tense. "had" does not count - otherwise everyone would be clear to post on the 27.44.0 forum without redress). A community member is not excluded from a particular topic based solely on the matching of their circumstances to the original post.
I don't need to visionman as you are just a user like me.
Youview even in its current condition with features missing is a really good platform. It's one of the best if not the best. You take a look at Freeview play you would be begging for your youview box back if you switch.

I pity the poor major shareholders in YouView, BT and TT, being the passive victims of YouView's NextGen launch timings.

The repeated reprimands cause a negative atmosphere, spoil the tread and often descend in to arguments.
