Hi Richard, its not a problem. I was pointing out the poorness of this forum software, not anything else.

"A raft of complaints observations.." No Grunders, you are correct to say complaints, as there is simply no other word for it.

I absolutely and totally agree with you, Richard. Yet another thing with the latest update that went from good to worse along with many other features. Obviously whoever is responsible has never heard the old computer adage ... if it ain't broke, don't fix it!!

    Visionman, I still don't understand :-(

I don't want to come to the horrified conclusion that you were happy to deliberately make Richard's posting collateral damage just to point out, yet again, a well-understood shortcoming of the GetSat community software.

So please tell me it was something else?

I think it's a fair conclusion, given the number of comments that have been bumped away.

Something which you may be properly thankful is not applied to aircraft engines.

But every adage has its count-adage, and in this case, it was 'when you are in a hole, stop digging'.

The Flash-based CurrentGen was in a hole, metaphorically, and YouView bravely stopped digging, and launched NextGen instead.

It's just a shame that they had us all move in before the roof was on :-(

No, but I don't believe it's instant - it's hard to see your own posting on email unless somebody Likes it, but I reckon I've seen some of mine come through with a quick-enough Edit
    applied.

Tell me what number you see here on the email copy of this:-

From an interface point of view I was perfectly happy and saw no problems with the old version. Bugs? Don't know but if there were then for sure I didn't notice them. If there were then they could have been fixed without removing features and introducing the shambles of the tiles that they have done.

    Hate it.

It tells me it was instant.

So much for my theory that there might be a built-in delay :-(

I posted with 0, and then changed the number to 1 as fast as I could - it took seconds only.

But the change to 2 and subsequent numbers were at 30-second intervals.

And, as it turns out, not needed.

Thanks for the leg-up from your side on this.

    That's actually quite bad news.
I often read posts just in their email form. But of course there's quite a few that are edited, so the only reliable way to know that you've got the truth, the whole truth etc is to read the content online.

This so called upgrade is the biggest mistake these firms have ever made, we have 7 of these BT/Youview boxes in the family and have recommended them to friends, this stops NOW !, never again will my family or I ever purchase anything with the logo Youview or BT on it, I cannot understand what right these firms have to change the format of the owners machine without their consent or any way of resetting it back to the original easy to use format which was the reason for purchasing them in the first place. the new format is complete rubbish and will lose them many customers. give us a way of reversing it and stop interfering with OUR machines.

It seems that we no longer own the things that we pay good money for. They belong to the likes of BT to do with as they see fit and we will just have to lump it. It is just polite to offer the upgrade don't inflict it. C Dunkley

***sigh*** the only good thing about the upgrade is that I will watch less TV as all the features that I used have gone :(Looks like it's time to get a different box - shame as I was very happy with it before. Like others I am completely baffled as to how such a bad 'upgrade' was signed off....

Couldn't agree more. Consistently recommended these boxes but now advise all my customers to steer clear of youview.

I HAD to sign up just to say just how much this update SUCKS! The BT Youview box used to be great before this update. Fast and snappy software, which was easy to use and navigate. It is now NONE of those things. What a pathetic thing to do. And we had no choice or say in the matter. I like many others, will be looking to leave BT soon because of this. Sort it out!

Out of pure interest, can someone from YouView confirm if there is another update coming soon to fix all of the problems?!

Yes.  I also signed up initial in dismay of the update just to register my extreme disappointment.  I then also made my points and highlighted/demonstrated them to be sure that it gets fully understood.....if they care to look or care.

    I have a DTR-T2100 on v27.50.

The major 'NextGen' UI change which IMHO is a masterclass in how not to release a major SW upgrade and how to hack off a large proportion of your customers. Most people (me included) were not aware there would be such a major change in the interface. How about 'A new version is available, Note: this version has extensive graphical interface changes'. That didn't happen because Youview probably wants to force users to upgrade so it can go HTML5 and 'Cloud' well good for them. What about the customers experience? Youview needs to strap on their rocket pack and get this mess sorted. At least provide appearance settings that reverts Recordings to 'List' but the sluggish UI is probably a 'not going to happen fix'.
BT, Plusnet, TalkTalk et al. were all aware that this major UI change was happening, I am sure someone vented their frustration and got slapped down. Maybe they don't really care and have put all their faith into Youview's platform (As Youview is driving the bus after all!). I would be interested to know how many guys and girls at the ISP's knew how much of a car crash this update was going to be and realise what impact it will have on their revenue stream on Youview's platform.
Too many Yes folk out there these days only worried about career progression and screw the customers.

Here are my observations (not that anyone cares):

    - Recordings/MyTV screen is a mess, tiles are for tablets not TVs! Youview is assuming everyone has super fast fibre broadband speeds of 70MB+ by using 'Pictures' as the overriding factor to identify a programme is neither clever or cool but misguided and results in a bad user experience (I wasn't particularly enamoured by the listings relying on having a BB connection in the first place (OTR?), but lived with it). I can decipher text quicker than whether it's a picture of Robert Sugden from Emmerdale or not, the text kind of gets lost in the picture, simple list of recordings in text will do as an option with no pictures please.... longer programme titles get truncated which defeats the purpose of the text in most instances

    - Recordings seem to miss the first few seconds off the start of some programmes (may be a OTR code issue rather than Youview though)

    - I never really used the Scheduled option but make this have an option for text only too

    - Now/Next displays tiles with pictures....not good...bring back an option for text only

    - Back button drops you to the main recordings screen and not inside the recordings series group, this make it too easy to accidentally delete a series (I recently deleted 56 episodes of a programme the other day, thanks Youview!) this results in an extra step to go back in to the group to delete the episode, is this a feature or a bug?

    - Speed is about the same as before, maybe slightly lagging?

    - Why was MyTV switched round the OPPOSITE way?  no biggy, just really annoying

    - Missing LOADS of features from 'Info' that were there before such as 'Play on demand', View on HD, Watch Now (or something like that)

    - EPG does not appear to have changed that much? but the Info button still lacks features from before (as above)

    - Unable to jump while still in the episodes recordings screen to navigate to a specific part of a programme, you can now only do this my fast forwarding/skipping whilst in Play mode

    - I have found myself not using the Youview box as much since the upgrade as the recordings screen is so clunky and really puts you off

I have not come across one person who thinks this upgrade is a major success or even 'Good' or 'OK', I have heard....'nightmare', 'slow and clunky' or 'I am getting a different box'. These complaints are all because of the Now/Next and the Recordings/MyTV screens.
The rest of the system menu layouts/options are fine by me and speed is about the same as before (maybe slightly laggy, although the tiles/picture loading may be causing this)

    Action required:
    - Youview need to make an option in 'Appearance' for Recordings/Scheduled & Now/Next to allow for a list/text view rather than the stupid tiles

Great post. Though your box should be neither slow nor 'clunky'. Both my T2000 & T2100 behave like greased lightning. Press and hold the power button on your box for 8 seconds & it will soft reboot. This won't affect any of your recordings or settings, but it should improve your box's performance. Whats your ADSL internet speed, btw?
I'm now happy with the disagree icon, because its gone.

Totally agree with everything you said (including the speed) ...and more.  Start reading through this thread from page 1 of this thread and you will see even more annoyances, stupidities and clear bugs that you are yet to encounter.  For example (and certainly not limited to)  the 'All4' app icon temporarily appearing as the tile for the recorded Graham Norton Show!.  Anyway, take a read through and you will see many (I have made several posts throughout highlights the different issues I have found).

The rest of the system menu layouts/options are fine by me and speed is about the same as before (maybe slightly laggy, although the tiles/picture loading may be causing this)

    - Youview need to make an option in 'Appearance' for Recordings/Scheduled & Now/Next to allow for a list/text view rather than the stupid tiles

BB speed is 40MB (Fibre), only just been changed in the past week, much better since. I made the fibre comment as I know someone on ADSL of 512k and pictures are not good for him.
The Recordings screen feels clunky, mainly because of the tiles though, was much better with the old text list, speed is about the same but hard to compare without a side by side comparison.
I tried the soft reboot and slightly quicker now.
OTR in my above post should have been OTA (Over The Air)...doh.

I made the fibre speed comment as I know someone who is on 512kB ADSL and the pictures are...well...not good.
