Hey you guise, I actually found something I like! I was pleased to see I can now delete whole collections of recordings en-masse, in the previous (far superior) software version, I had to delete each episode one-by-one.
@Andy Bush There is a SAMBA option but I have this turned off (it's off by default as is FTP) as it's pointless really as you can't play the encoded files directly. No idea if it's v1 or v2. Only use I can see for SAMBA on the FVP-4000T is transferring recordings to another box. I only have the DLNA 'Network Server' enabled.

Ahhhh ....Lost all my Glastonbury recordings because of that ridiculous 'return to main screen' after watching a single episode affair. Whichever idiot came up with that idea needs to find a more suitable form of employment.

Agreed. That was weird, I was just watching Glasto recording (People's Favourites) over the network from my wifi enabled Freeview Play box (FVP-4000T 1TB).
I feel your pain brother, I did this too to a series on Youview (after pressing back thinking I was at the recording I just watched, as it used to be) and was the final straw for me on top of all the other cock-ups Youview made of this NextGen roll-out debacle.

@Steven according to the versions page, it's rolled out to retail customers already (28.x), TalkTalk are in the process of rolling it out now (x.44.x), and BT will (barring any as-yet-unknown urgent hotfixes) have it in their next update. Now everyone is on next-gen, rollouts will occur significantly faster than the initial rollout.

Oh p.s. BT now rolling out - do an update right now and you should find yourself the first to get it.

Lol.
I'm now happy with the disagree icon, because its gone.

Doesn't appear to have much in the update although the one fix listed is a very important one... 'When selecting a series in MyTV and playing an episode, pressing the 'Back' button on the remote control will now return you to the episode selection screen.'

Hooray, another straggler that should have been there on Day One finally makes it home.

I have checked my box (BT) says there is no update available

Andy, this software version has now been superseded by 28.26.0 which has just commenced roll-out. Which version of software do you currently have and on which model of box?

Cheers Stephen. Sadly mine says it's "up to date" showing software version 27.50.0 currently installed, I'll manually check over the next few days holding my breath of course.

Software is on a phased rollout just because it's not available to your box now don't mean you won't get it. You just have to keep trying.

Obviously a option but not one I would take if I was eager to get the update.

And the manual fetch would operate potentially how much sooner than the automatic fetch?

Honestly probably a few hours. At least in my experience that has been the case.

Yep - max 24 hours saving.
Mind you, I'm updating one right now that has lain unused for a bit, rather than leaving it overnight.... :-)

Certainly but someone as keen as me would be happy with this others more than likely would find it a inconvenience to press update manually a hell of a lot lol

It's all right for you. You can watch one of your seventeen other boxes while doing it :-)

The software authors / designers / engineers need sacking for this update.
I found the update to be woeful from the minute it fired into it's limpless life, I listed out the very very many problems with it back then and nothing significant has changed. In fact returning here today after an absense of a month or more the list just keeps getting bigger and the BT staff keep defending the indefensible. Thankfully my contract ran out in July and so I am switching back to SKY. It is even better news as they now let you select only the sports you want so yes to Rugby without funding the overpaid cry baby footballers.
The two most recent issues I have found are blocky 8 bit type playbacks of recordings yet I can then go and find that program in catch up and it plays fine. Also if you stop a film and go back to it, you start from the beginning !!!
I complained to BT and had a long chat with two people who basically said, yeah we know our software is pants but we are doing nothing about it and have no plans or dates as to what we may fix or when. They then proceeded to close my complaint on the basis they are no going to do anything about it.
The software authors need the sack for this as a minimum. More so, BT need to refund all of the users for being given a product which quite simply is not fit for purpose. Clearly the processor of the machine can't handle the pointless fancy graphics and transparencies. Like a dumb animal staring down the barrel of a gamekeepers gun the software author probably only went so far as to test the graphics on his super duper high spec mac without actually testing it in the field.
I have tried the full factory reset to no avail. Time to go.
I'm currently waiting on the latest release but have had an issue with 27.50.0 that is perhaps worthwhile reporting. It happened again last night and this is my second time now over the last couple of months. The remote control stops accepting certain inputs, I could not bring up the guide, change channel or hit the YouView button with any success. The power button did drop the BT DTR-2110 I have into standby however, the only way I could get the remote working again was to use the off switch at the back and power back up that way.
This didn't occur at any time using the original software in the previous 12-18 months that I have had the box.

I agree. It happened a couple of time to me as well exactly as you describe. Unfortunately, it also happened to me a couple of days ago on the latest version too.

YouView boxes seem to need more than their fair share of software resets, but turning the box off and on at the back isn't necessarily the best way to do it. An eight second reset sorts out most problems. Touch/press the power/standby button on the front/top of the box for about 8 seconds until it starts a reboot.
This and other software reset options are given in the Top Tip, which is the third post of the Pinned Conversations at the top of the home page of this furum.
the 27.50.9 to 27.60.0 software update for BT DTR-2110 boxes hasn't started yet. Presumably BT will complete the roll-out to their subscription boxes before they start on the retail ones.
